Muchova led Pegula 6-1 2-0 in this US Open SF.... why does a lead like that involving Karolina sound so familiar?

Oh yeah, Ash Barty led Karolina Muchova 6-1 2-0 in the Aus Open QF in 2021 before Muchova stormed back to win the match in 3 sets.

Deja Vu but not in a good way for KM this time.

Muchova pushes a routine forehand wide, under no pressure, and the announcers are talking about Pegula's mental toughness? WTF? Are they even watching the match?

Um, what? I like Navarro, but she is nowhere near playing like Navratilova (or most other players from that era). Her slice isn't good (and she only uses it when forced), she doesn't volley particularly well, and she never serves and volleys.

No, I only mentioned Navratilova as an example of a classic player. Navarro's style is more like C Evert's, MJ Fernendez's or A Sanchez's.

Regardless of whether Muchova wins tonight, she's proved that she's the most impressive tennis player to watch when it comes to all-court skills.
You can have all the skills in the world, but if you can't cross the finish line it doesn't mean squat.

Jessica Pegula has done it - her first GS SF, and now her first GS Final - prevailing 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 over Karolina Muchova - who will be back if she can stay healthy. Tough loss for her as she had control of this match for a while.

Ladies Final - Jessica Pegula v. Aryna Sabalenka on Saturday.
