Paul is a good player but Sinner is the new Djokovic from the back of the court. He moves very well and his backhand is excellent. Medvedev and Zverev have a shot but the rest of the guys will get destroyed.

Alcaraz has better potential, talent and tennis IQ. No one knows what the Alcaraz ceiling is but for Sinner it might be close.
Still mentally I find both suspect. The tendency to get injured, lose concentration, get discouraged from losses for a long time etc etc.
Actually I think Alcaraz's mental game is a strength, just look at how incredible his record is in 5 set matches/finals. That's where he gets the Big 3 comparisons because he's incredibly good in clutch moments like they were.. Alcaraz's biggest weakness is his lapses in concentration/hints of arrogance so he tends to try to put on shows at times instead of focusing on smart tennis. Not many flaws in his game outside of that inconsistent serve.

Sinner's biggest flaw is his conditioning/endurance and, not too different than Alcaraz, inconsistent serve. His game is pretty damn complete as well though.

Outside of the disaster at the start and subsequent effort to get the breaks back, Sinner always looked in control of the match

It wasn't a rollover or anything, but he was never in any real danger, even in the TBs

Having a good Bo5 record because you go to 5 against mediocre players isn't exactly a positive.

This should be a good match. Zverev leads Fritz 5-4 in their HTH. But if Fritz gets hot with his serves while also having the home crowd backing him, then he could pull off the mild upset.
Yes it's 60-40 match. It's almost even odds and Gill gross says fritz backhand works great vs zverev's superior backhand. Matchup issue

I am trying to like sinner but idk why I have a hate for him like i had for Andy Roddick. Idk if it’s his face lol.

Interesting. I didn't hate Roddick, but I kind of enjoyed seeing Federer be better than him, repeatedly.

I spent most of the match trying to decide if I felt the same about Paul. Something about American fratboy looking players....

He won’t have that advantage against meddy though.
Yes meddy is octopus.

Also the balls this year are not lively. Not sure who it will benefit but both players having serving issues. While meddy was better server in the past , sinner looks to have become better in 2024 And meddy regressed. The serve was huge + for meddy in Wimbledon qf but these balls may negate that.

I‘d say the balls benefit Medvedev, because they help him extend rallies even more. Sinner will need to come forward, I‘m not seeing him winning, if he relies on trying to win all those long rallies over 5 hours.

That match was played at a really high level. Tommy Paul played much better than almost anyone I've seen so far, including Popyrin, BVDZ, Tiafoe, Shelton...

Must be tough to take for Tommy, having played such great tennis and still losing in straights.

... Hate the disrespectful crowd..especially the double standards of the USA USA chant when most of them will probably vote Kamala Harris which is hypocrisy at its finest...
What in the what? This makes no sense, on any level...

Enjoyed that match very much as I like Paul's play style, his logical game plan and the asymmetrical tactical clash. Sinner has greatly improved in understanding the game of tennis and adapting his. Very few indeed, aided by a strong serve day, can hope to match him from the baseline.

Despite the two early breaks and a redlining Tommy the stats show a clear performance gap with 93 to 116 points scored. Jannik only converted 4/14 break balls while saving only 2/4...
