Following Cobolli earlier in the year was wild

Wildest ride of any tennis player ever, dude had at least one set go 6-1 in either direction every match, switched without brakes from destroying his opponent to getting destroyed to getting destroyed again etc etc

Every single match you never knew what was in store, he could have genuinely beat Djokovic one day and lost to Some Lucky Loser #235 rando 6-1 6-2 the next

He has an extreme amount of talent so it's nice that he's getting more consistent now

Quite impressive run from Cobolli considering that he was playing challengers 14-15 months ago

Bergs is putting pressure on Cobolli in every single service game since the early break, and Flavio just keeps on holding.

I haven’t followed Cobolli for a while. Forehand was always good but over the last months he really improved also the return and BH. Now he will face Meddy, he has nothing to loose.

Schoolkate and Mensik quietly having a really good match too, but the Aussie wildcard just has a bit too much for this kid by the looks of it.

Mannarino double faults the match away, David Goffin takes the 4th set breaker 7-1 and is through to the third round. What a scrappy legend. That's his best slam result since Wimbledon last year. Will play Machac.

I would love to know what it is that has caused this generation of players born in the 2000s to play with infinitely more variety than those who were born in the 90s (and even some of the late 80s) because it is so goddamn refreshing. Slice to some degree and getting to net to a major degree are both making comebacks.

Nadal and his copies standing 20 feet behind

Some interesting matches. Goffin through, having a good hc season. Cobolli turned it around after losing 1st set, and the kids Fils /Diallo putting up a well contested one too. First time focused on Diallo, kid can play. Evans / Navonne is intriguing - can DE keep his momentum, get through? Schoolkate / Mensik no longer as one sided.
Going to watch Paul/Purcell, TP seems dominant from the bagel in the 2nd.

Diallo, son, what a player. Incredibly mature and smart performance to make Fils look like the boy he is. Cannot wait to see what he does against Tommy Paul.

Works well vs guys like this. No idea how Altmeier lost to this player. Evans won’t get as lucky as he has first two matches vs Di Minaur who’s an even bigger retriever lol.
Well, 5'7" Jaime Yzaga took out PETE *twice here* playing a similar game: controlling the point w/ the slice, then capitalizing when the time was right (notice the scorelines, too). You can look it up, as Casey Stengel used to say.

not bad

Schoolkate and Mensik in a 4th set breaker, Diallo about to serve for the match against Fils. It's all kicking off.
Yah man. Mensik took the tb with superb winner, like his game. Diallo been playing challengers, doing well, kid looks good. Meddy breaks Maroszan in first game, will watch to see how he's looking.

LOL... Three days in, and the 87 Frenchmen in the main draw have all courteously bid adieu :)

Must have been serving some week-old snails at the hotel buffet. As usual.

Which is why it infuriated me watching Federer play Djokovic (And somewhat Nadal) and get outplayed on his BH side when he tries to trade topspin shots, just slice everything! Keep the ball in play and wait for an opening on the FH! Tsitsipas has the same issue as his bh and slice are both terrible . Learn from evo.
