Lol if this is his level vs Botic VdZ I shudder to think what would happen vs an actual top player with this performance.

Even if he gets through today wtf is he gonna do vs Djokovic/Sinner/Zverev/Medvedev

He would blast away these kinds of players on clay or grass but hardcourt is a different beast to master because it's neutral and everybody can play on it.

Beat them like he did the last time he played each of those four in slams...

That I don’t get. No urgency. I really think he thought he just needed to show up. His serve has been mediocre tonight.

He was returning well from baseline at Wimbledon and then started to copy Nadal from Wimbledon, it gives him less time and chance to break if he return from stand.

It boggles my mind that people think that this Alcaraz can challenge Novak.
Novak would beat this Alcaraz in straights every single day and twice on Sunday.

Sounds like there is not much competition for Novak. There is no other ATP player who can consistently beat Novak in 5 sets in slams.

Expect Novak to win several more slams.

Believe it or not, he doesn't actually play laughable tennis when he's won his majors.
But almost every time he's gotten away with some laughable performance. Even at Wimbledon he could have lost to Tiafoe had he been a somewhat decent opponent. Same goes at RG vs Sinner or Zverev, or 2 years ago vs, well, almost everybody.

Agreed, but it'll be the difference between a career like the big 3 or a career like Agassi. If Carlos learns how to be disciplined early in matches he can be unstoppably dominant. If he doesn't, I fear he'll continue to ride rollercoasters of hot and cold.
Yes, but if you remember the Big 3 at their age, they werent all than consistent either, he Will improve this, i have no doubt

Beat them, with this level? Sinner will eat him for breakfast
If he gets past this one I wouldn't expect poor play to continue. One, VDZ is playing incredible tennis, two, if you've never watched Alcaraz in slams this is common in early rounds. His play can be a rollercoaster
