Let’s hope not that will be a disgrace to the sport
Um, why? Seriously, how would Tiafoe winning be a "disgrace" to the sport?

Ew, hopefully not.
Same question.

True, but Fritz played Sinner very close at IW last year.
Perhaps, but that match always felt clearly under Sinner's control (in my opinion).

Well it true. A lot wanted Djokovic gone as he was destroying tennis and the game. However, now he’s gone or eliminated don’t moan about the players left in. You either get behind the new era of players or don’t hate on Djokovic or the past one.
It's not as black and white as you make it out to be. If guys like Fritz and Zverev (or DeMinaur or Draper) start dominating the game, it will indeed be boring. But if it were guys like Musetti, Tsitsipas, Moutet, Shelton, Dimitrov... taking over, it would be fun to watch.

How the hell is Sinner v Meddy gonna go? Some have said the former wins in a walk. I liked another comment, though:
"it'll be a dogfight". And what better place for a dogfight than NYC? Go, both guys: Let's you and him fight!

Sinner is just turned 23. 2 weeks back he was 22.

They have 1 slam each and Sinner has 16 titles and Medvedev 20

Sinner won 8 titles since Meddy won 1.
Those stats don't matter, you're acting as if this is a mismatch. Their last slam 2 matches were a 5 setter in Australia where Medvedev was up 2 sets and Wimbledon where Medvedev beat Sinner on what was considered his weak surface. Medvedev has consistently been an elite performer on the hard courts so there's a reason why this is being hyped as a Finals level match in a Quarterfinal.

Jack is always making jokes in his on-court interviews here, and the crowd never laughs. Can they really not understand his accent or something, or do they just hate the English? :-D
Heh,heh, the other option could be that they don't think he is funny. Or maybe, they laughed enough in that match to last a lifetime. Kid has done well, getting through to the SF without dropping a set. If he is fit and plays free of pressure ( having already had a good run, entering the top 20 ) he could get further. If he gets rigor mortis, he'll still leave with plenty gained. Win/win is a good place to be. He's 22 - all else being equal, plenty of time to achieve more.

Demon was injured during the summer, so has had a good run here. He works hard and competes well when he can - no disgrace in that.

I'm a little sad because the only match left to watch this UsOpen is Sinner vs Medvedev.
The winner of that match will win the title by beating Draper - Fritz/Tiafoe very convicingly. None of those matches would even be worth watching.
If I had bought tickets for the SF or F, I'd ask for money back.
Check out the pickleball channel champ.

This is turning into mismatch now. I see it as qf not final

And to think Sinner was struggling to make a slam semi till his first one at Wim 23. That's 4 slam semis out of 6.

I wonder what changed for him to suddenly be so consistent and strong with good stamina.

Maybe all you need to make the transition from talented player without the fitness to number 1 player in the world is a good ol massage with italian oils.

Impressive, he's only lost before the 2nd week of a slam once in his last 13 slams.

Shows even going back to 2021 at age 20 (barely his birthday is in august), Sinner was reaching second week and he had some huge losses like vs Djokovic Wimby in 5 , Alcaraz USO in 5, Zverev USO in 5, Tsitsipas AO in 5 and so on.
As he is getting into his prime, he is going to dominate the tennis landscape now.

With free rein to juice as much he wants, forget about him losing a slam match for a looooong time.

Sinner hits the ball from both wings very hard. And he also defends extremely well with both wings. Med had to overcook the ball to try and hit through Sinner. When he didn’t, Sinner got winners. So he had to go bigger, which caused more errors.

Sinner had a rather pedestrian 53% first serve percentage vs Med today. However, he managed to win 63% of his 2nd serves(compared to Med winning only 51% of his own 2nd serves). Sinner, for the most point, dictated play from the baseline.

We will see in 2 days where Draper is really at when he faces Sinner. I find that match interesting at this time. Hopefully, it’s not a letdown.

His serve became stronger
His stamina improved
Strength improved

What happens at that early stages

He will most likely have multi slam year now. Andy Murray never won 2 slams in a year

Too much logic.

Draper is a fairly unique player which will cause a great deal of trouble to many. Fritzi's game is just perfect for American hardcourt, almost like he has grown up there while Tiafoe can cause upsetting emotions...

Sinner is way better than all those guys. Sinner will cruise to the title now. He’s so good and solid on all assets of his game.

Just pure blended Elo forecast. I would give Draper more of a chance too, on form.

Helps to anchor your view and to add your subjective take later.
Sure, it's very useful. Just out of curiosity though, would you know when these Elos were updated last? Was it after Cincy or after the first week of USO?

Same question.
I responded to a comment about not wanting Tiafoe to win; nothing to do with the question you asked ther other poster.

I don’t like him. He’s full of himself and excruciatingly unfunny while thinking he’s hilarious. So no, I don’t want him to win; I’d rather Fritz did.

Just before the USO...

Draper is only 22 and this is his first real season with no injury. How can you tell? He can serve and volley, play the drop shots, can power from the back of the court, has one hell of a first serve when it goes in..... he has all the tools. Oh and he has beaten Alcatraz and Sinner already. He is still learning. He is behind the top 4 but he can get closer.
I was at the Draper vs Rublev match at last year's USO, where Draper got bounced pretty easily by Bweah. Drapper is a big dude, and he often looks pretty slow and lumbering compared to most other players.

Wiki lists Draper as the same height at Monfils, and we all know he doesn't move nearly as well as Gael (even older Gael). That may be an extreme example, but you get the point.

So while Draper was hanging in with Rublev during some rallies, and managing to win some points by pulling the trigger on a down the line backhand and things like that, overall Andre was just running and pummeling him into the ground. And we know Sinner is like a superior version of Rublev, so I would expect Draper to get worn out trying to hit with Sinner, and have a harder time trying to go on the offensive off of Sinner's incoming pace.

The man respects HISTORY

There was a year in high school when these were THE shoes to have. All the cool kids were wearing them. I didn't have a pair (read into that what you want).

I really pity the people having tickets for the SF and the F. Tonight night session will be the best session to attend and the quality will only decrease from here. I would be crying tears of blood if I had bought tickets for SF thinking Alcaraz v Sinner and no way I could have sold them at decent price without making a loss
Well, there are two Americans in one semi, and a guaranteed American in the final. The USO is chock full of casuals with hardly a clue about tennis, plus a bunch of "homers" that love rooting for Americans. I'd say anyone that wanted to sell their tickets could probably do so quite easily. No matter who is playing, the USO final (and even the semis to some extent) is an "event" in NYC, where plenty of people are there just to be seen and say they were there, regardless of who is playing.

There are some good massages out there I hear ;)
If they don't end happy, they aren't really that good.

Wait, is that second line about Alcaraz? Because you realize humor is wildly subjective, and while some people interpret arrogance as confidence (and vice versa), Alcaraz fits that description very well.

It is pretty cool that there will finally be an American in the men's final again.

I was just watching the Fred v Roddick '06 final last night, with Taylor
Dent doing color commentary. Pretty good stuff- I like that match.

The average ranking of the semifinalists is 14.5 despite having the #1 in it. Anybody happen to know what the record lowest average is for ATP slams?
