Alcaraz at 21 y.o defeated the GOAT once again.

Nadal at the same age of Alcaraz pushed Prime Federer to 5 sets at the Wimbledon Final 2007

So it would be interesting to question how would fare the current Alcaraz who just won his second Wimbledon against 2007 Federer, who is still the grass king ?

I think it would be very close. Federer has the superior serve and footwork on grass, and maybe the slightly better FH, but Alcaraz has a very good serve too, better than Nadal at the same age, has nerves of steel and he is even more proactive than Nadal (although Nadal was very offensive during the Wimbledon 2007 Final), and like Nadal I see Alcaraz defensive skills frustrating Federer. On the other side, I see Federer variety taking Alcaraz out of his confort zone. We saw how Dimitrov dismantled Alcaraz game two times already at Shanghai and Indian Wells - of course, Alcaraz level in GS finals is several notchs above.

It's 55/45 Federer for me. I think if Alcaraz push Federer in a long match and engage him a fifth set, he wins. Federer need to shut down Alcaraz in 3-4 sets.

Am not too confident with Fed 07 il take Fed 06 or Fed from 2003 Semis though.

I favour Federer by quite a bit, but it's a winnable match. However, Carlitos probably wouldn't have some unusually awkward match-up advantage like Nadal had, so don't just assume, if you think Raz > Dal on grass, that Raz would do even better than Nadal did with his virus and natural game dynamics already firmly planted inside Fred's head.

Nadal is an underachiever on grass because of Fed and Djoko combo. I am not convinced that Carlos is any better than Rafa byy any means.I have to say he has great potential.I would like too see Rafa age 20 ,21 playing Wimbledon finals against 35 and 36 years past his prime great.

Fred in 3. Carlos wouldn't even know which storm hit him.

It's Novak who didn't know which storm hit him today

I have never seen Novak being dominated on grass like that, and in a GS final especially with the FO 2020 beatdown. Novak was without solutions

This Alcaraz would certainly push Prime Federer hard

Novak is 37 and slow playing on one leg who hasn’t one posted win over a top 10 player all year. It’s not hard to dominate this Nole

Novak has hyperinflated his grass resume by orders of magnitude. Fed in his prime was a totally different beast on grass. So was Rafa tbh, 2006-10 Rafa was a freak of nature there.

There is always a lot of talk about how much Nadal took away from the two of them on clay, but little is said about how much they took away from the Spaniard outside of clay.

Fed in 3 - 20-1, 6- -1, 6-0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001

lol at this question.

I think even 2019 Wimbledon Fed would have had a shot because of how well he was spot serving.

2007 Fed would have been a heavy favourite against Carlito, the advantageous patterns of play that gave Nadal such an edge in rallies even against the best Fed just wouldn't be there with this match-up.

I remember Agassi saying once years ago that if Nadal was right handed Fed would have beaten him 10 out of 10 because he (Fed) moves the ball so well. He was exaggerating obviously but people going with logic - Nadal challenged/beat Fed so another great Spaniard Alcaraz would have done the same don't really get it IMO.

Federer went from being a bit overrated on TTW to now being criminally underrated. Guess that's what happens post retirement
It's already happening to Djokovic when he's still active and in the top 5. Dude lost 2 Wimbledon finals to Alcaraz at 36-37 and they're already bringing in peak Fed to the discussion.

I think Agassi was wrong...Rafa would still hit enough balls back to frustrate Federer...right or left-handed he is one of those players Fed never really enjoyed playing against and who could make him lose patience and hit an error or go for too much.

Nadal had that awkward matchup over fed with the lefty topspin shots + slice serve on the bouncy 2nd week grass. Just don’t see Alcaraz beating any prime Federer, he was too good for anyone. Alcaraz didn’t have the firepower to do a Tsonga or Berdych either. As good as he is, I think Federer wins in 4 fun sets.

2019 Federer would be an epic battle though. Could go either way.

Federer has to be the favorite for now. Maybe in years to come it will be a different story.

LOL Raz would rip the floor with 2019 Federer, exposing his poor movement.
2019 Djoko is better than 2024 Carlitos and he couldn’t expose Fed’s diminished movement— Carlitos isn’t doing any ripping, but rather getting his time taken away as Dimitrov did at IW.

Fed in 2007 was 25 yrs old and in his prime while Carlos is still 21 and pre-prime you can't really compare them, Federer in 4 maybe 5.
