Fils surely has way too much game for this guy if he can stop missing so much. Breaks for 2-0 in second.

So happy to see Lorenzo through to the QF! He's got buckets of talent and if he can stay focused and strong the tour will be a much more interesting place. Looking forward to catching his next match!

Novak is lucky to get the EASIEST Quarter final. De Minaur is far easier than Medvedev or Fritz would have been.
Imagine having to face Medvedev, Zverev and Sinner for the title back to back.

Zverev and Djokovic to win in 4. Just bet my house on it.
Djokovic over Rune in 3 or 4 sounds about right.
Not sure about Zedzilla. He's looked shaky to me. Fritz is in great grasscourt form and could pull of the upset.
Again Zedzilla had knee issues vs Norrie - so he might not be 100%.

De Minaur is the Ferrer of this generation. Beats everybody he's supposed to beat but has no shot against top 5 level players. The eternal early 2nd week guy.
The most boring tennis ever. I would rather watch paint dry.
Dude will NEVER do anything big in his career except lose to the top players in the 2nd week.

De Minaur is the Ferrer of this generation. Beats everybody he's supposed to beat but has no realistic shot against top 5 level players. The eternal early 2nd week guy.
Ferrer was even better. 4 Slam semis and a final in addition to all the QFs and 4th rounds. All De Minaur has is QF and 4th Rounds - not that that's not impressive on its own merits.

I'm not seeing it. What is Fils "too much game"? He's a good young player, but fairly generic. He doesn't have a fantastic serve or other shot that's beyond what we see from everyone else around him. And I ask this as someone who like him and would like to see him become a true contender.

For sure, Ferrer was better but it's the closest comparable I can think of from recent generations. I never got the sense Ferrer could win a slam even when he went deep. Like ADM, he was an elite mover and great fighter (The Beast) but just didn't have the consistent power to bother the top guys.

Well, he likes to get to net more than most, and he's fairly aggressive, and his previous rounds was fairly successful at it! He likes to use the slice too, even if he's not very good at it. I'd say that's enough generic to make him more than generic! :D But note I also said too much game for 'this guy' and this guy has very little game, and for all the improvements he's tried to make he still relies on the other guy failing more than anything else.

I think his biggest problem today has been exactly that, that he wants to be aggressive, he doesn't want to play long rallies, he's got no patience, and he's being made to pay.

It's time for the vain serve bombers to go toe to toe. Both have looked fairly unstoppable so far. Something's gotta GIVE!

Cliff and James Blake compared ADM to Wilander - because he doesn't have bruising weapons and is consistent. But that's a purely surface comparison since Wilander obviously had more to his game and beneath the surface for him to win Slams and be ranked No. 1.

Who are you referring to? Zverev and Fritz? If so, who is your pick in the match?
Yes, them. I think Fritz has looked better through 3 rounds and is a much better, happier grass player, so based on nothing but form and venue I would pick him, but... I mean Zverev is better. Tough to completely overlook that. I'm sitting on the fence.

I agree completely. I'm picking Fritz in 4 or 5 as the most likely outcome.
Although I would like Zverev to win because he deserves it more.

Fils started semi-looping and drew errors from ADM. If he can balance such play with his aggressive game, that would suit him well. Like he just did on break point. Loop creates a mid court ball which he crushes.

I hope this kid and his giant best bud get up there with the Rune's, Shelton's and hoard of Italians, because this generation is so much more exciting to watch than the last two.
