Overall h2h is 4-2 in favour of Alcaraz, but Medvedev leads 2-1 in bo5. Latest matchup in a slam was last years USO where Medvedev performed a masterclass downing Raz in 4 sets. Raz however beat Med fairly easy at Wimbledon last year.

Form wise this tells us it will be a 4 or 5 setter. Medvedev coming off a heroic win vs Sinner and seems he has learned alot from last years experience. The tough part is winning this b2b.

Alcaraz we all know where he stands but he hasn't looked unbeatable. Both players gets plenty of rest to go all out on friday.

Also, Alcaraz has won their last 2 meetings - one indoor hard, one outdoor hard.

Alcaraz still has the clear match-up advantage in this rivalry. 4-1 since he actually matured into a top tennis player, with all 4 of those victories in straight sets – including last year here at Wimbledon and indoors at the ATP Finals. So the roof is hardly a death knell for him. That said, Med's one win was a big one and Alcaraz has looked anything but convincing here this year. Med has a real chance but I'll go Carlos in 5.

It’s good that Medvedev will have 2 days of rest. Alcaraz doesn't look in the best shape here and anything is possible. Medvedev needs to reduce the number of DFs. His serve in their match a year ago was crap, now it's a different story.

I'm hoping for Alcaraz in 4 at the worst, but I wouldn't be surprised if this goes to 5 or if Med upsets him. I definitely don't think this will be the walkover it was last year, so I'm a little worried.

Absolutely no doubt it will be Alcaraz, barring an injury.
At this point he's in big 3 territory, he has that extra gear he can kick into and run away with matches.
You can pretty much pencil him in the Wimbledon final every other year, he's flying at big 3 speed through the record books.

Yea there is something extra about him. Unreal player.

Daniil Medvedev was asked what he thinks is most special about Alcaraz:

“To be honest, everything. But I would think the easy power with which he hits the shots. Against Tommy I just saw a hit of the ending.. As soon as he had a shot where he could go for it, he went for it and he always put it in. He was a little bit on fire, you could see by the score. That’s where it’s tough to play against him. You know whatever shot you hit, he can hit a winner from there. You try to make his life difficult.. you try to hit the shot as good as you can, so maybe he goes for it and he can’t make it. But that’s pretty special. There are not many players like this. A lot of players that if you play cross.. there are less chances he goes down the line winner, etc. Carlos can do whatever from any position and that’s not easy to play against.”

To me Alcaraz has been patchy. His highs have been awesome. He's played at God Mode for a small duration and created those highlight reels.
But then his lows have been EVEN Worse. He's suddenly forgotten to return weak second serves, makes tons of UFEs and players are eating his serve for breakfast.
Overall picture is one of less consistency than he had last year when he won the title.

The match would come down to Medvedev's serve. If Med has a VERY GOOD serving day - he could win it.
Medvedev should draw encouragement from their UsOpen match where Med was the steadier player and won the big points. His serve has to be absolutely on fire. There is no path to victory without a crazy serving day.
I'm going to say 5 sets, and either player could win it.

Regardless, neither player to me looks good enough to handle Novak in the final.

I still think alcaraz is in meddy’s head. He pulled the us open match out but it was on hard courts and it was a super effort.

Alcaraz is better on grass and knows how to exploit meddy’s weaknesses better than anyone. I do think Meddy is in better form than last year Wimbledon so will do better. I think weather is better so roof will be off. Carlos in 4!

To beat alcaraz, you have to recognize when he hits a slump and capitalize. Those will inevitably happen due to the nature of his playstyle. But you have to recognize those moments and pounce like a hungry wolf.

Problem with these mugs is that they drop their level at the same time as well, squandering their chances and allowing Carlos to simply regain form back eventually with little repercussions.

I wonder if the serve advantage and flat shots are enough to win it for Med. Should be an uncomfortable ball for Alcaraz and very little to tee off on.

Earlier in the tournament I think it would have but not this late.

Alcaraz in 4.

anything could happen, but one thing that points me toward alcaraz victory, is that in his wins against number ones, medveded doesnt usually reapets a great performance back to back, like when he beat carlos at us open playing one of the best if not the best match ive seen from him, then folded easily against novak, its very difficult to be so inspired tow big matches in a row

The clown from Spain has developed a habit to lose the first set. Thus 4 sets will be played before Med is off into a nice little summer vacation.

Alcaraz in four. I think he’s on his way to develop a habit of not being at his best early on and then play into form, just like so many of the best players do. The last three sets against TP was more or less box office stuff.

Med has 1 match like the QF in him but not two.

Wont beat Sincaraz b2b.

This was just about who would play Medvedev first.

Alcaraz now gets him outdoors too.

Alc in 3-4.

Seems about right.

Medvedev beating Sinner and Alcaraz back to back in a major would be very commendable. Especially at Wimbledon. But it took a hell of an effort to beat Sinner who was struggling physically. Alcaraz is reaching peak level now and is physically tougher than Sinner at this point with a higher gear. Seems he gets stronger the deeper it goes.

Alcaraz leads this poll 44-10. I'm with the majority here. I think that Alcaraz's game is too versatile on grass courts for Med. I see Alcaraz having a throw-away set, but then winning in 4.

He didn't fold easily. Med pushed djoker hard. If he had converted on the 2nd set point, it would've been a different match. Djoker was physically struggling.
