Here's what I don't understand.
Gracheva is French now according to the WTA.
Why didn't Tsurenko shake her hand?
Presumably she was playing it safe, as back in Russia they would happily still call Gracheva a Russian if they could use it for spin purposes.

But regardless, Gracheva has made her choice and I think Tsurenko got this one wrong

Nobody cares it seems. If Igor was out, we'd have 20 pages already with bots crying

****, she had so easy draw, iga's easy level I would say...lost great opportunity

Great shame Sabalenka is out of the draw, it absolutely makes it more open and less interesting in a match up sense. Also a shame Alexandrova withdrew as I was looking forward to her against Raducanu on centre court.

Damn it Sabs. That was my poll pick so I’ll swap now to Gauff. Her draw is just so easy.

Don’t have any faith in Iga who has a nightmare draw.

Pretty **** of Sabalenka and Alexandrova to withdraw this last minute won’t lie. I get the “I wanted to play, I tried, I waited”. Just sucks.

Begu got at least one game! (y)

Townsend's frame is just too heavy for her to be successful. Mind boggling that she actually leads (6-5) against Pavs! o_O

Tsurenko hasn't yet retired in her match against Gracheva but don't worry it's for sure just around the corner! :-D

Of course you do!:( I have a nightmare that Swiatek or some damn Osaka wins. And I can think of long row of players that I would rather see winning than Rybakina, Sabalenka or Gauff
Swiatek winning would be so insanely good! A US Open, 4x French Open and then a Wimbledon champ? Oh wow a great look not just for the sport but the things it would do to promote it. Instead having some random like Vondrousova win Wimbledon and then disappear into oblivion was frankly, embarrassing. How has Marketa done? She won a tournament or made a final since last year?

Lol.

iga had nightmare draw at AO, but it fell apart. \and losing to noskova was not caused of nightmare draw... everyone expected that she will go straight into the final. Who had tough draw or not we can say in the final , in the beginning it is pointless..

Raducanu has basically taken Alexandrova's seeding unofficially.
Given that Raducanu could meet the 33rd ranked Mertens in round 2, I would say it's Mertens who has taken over the seeding with Raducanu/Zarazua/Hibino the trio of non seeds in her section.

Osaka got it together in that third, but it was handed to her in the end. Not quite as convincing as her Claynaissance.

Trevisan battling like the beautiful little badass she is against MADDY SMASH. Valiant effort.

What happened to Vika? Sorry I might have been stupid and missed the update. My internet is **** right now. Thought it was going to be Sloane v Vika.

Not sure, just seen this myself and I'm baffled.

So two of the most eye catching match ups in R1 have been scrapped today after Alexandrova and Azarenka withdrew from the tournament. If Raducanu and Stephens don't make it through with weaker opposition that'll say a lot. I do wonder how much time they've had to prepare against their new opponents. I do suppose the lucky losers also have no idea who may withdraw and also have little time. Having said that if they're fairly unknown LLs then there will be a lot more knowledge of how to play Raducanu/Stephens out there than there is to play Zarazua and Jacquemot.

Raducanu very pumped up for this but only just squeezes through the first set. Zarazua is a 100% defensive tennis player. No attacking shots. Just gets it back and occasionally throws in a drop shot (if that counts as an 'attack').

She also looks tiny on my screen - has to be shorter than Paolini. Mertens will be a big test if she's playing well and Raducanu gets through this.

Zheng Qinwen OUT in R1 losing to qualifier Lulu Sun of New Zealand (played for Switzerland until April of this year). Zheng disappointing at 2 majors in a row now after her F appearance at the AO (l. to Sabalenka). I do wonder if that F appearance was too early for her. I know we have the likes of Raducanu winning a major out of nowhere which is arguably not great for your career but Zheng's F appearance was also on the back of a straightforward draw and perhaps wasn't what she needed at this stage of her development.

Radovcic is quite the chameleon.
She changes from New Zealander to Swiss at will.
She also changes her name at will too from Radovcic to Sun. :)

Nike's dress design for Osaka is so over the top and it really does look pretty uncomfortable with all the frills. Looks more like a wedding dress design for the evening party than it does a tennis dress. I could definitely have seen them designing something similar for Serena so maybe Naomi is now getting the Serena design treatment.

Radacanu vs whoever. Poor quality match to have on centre court and British TV. Much rather watch Sinner.
It was meant to be against Alexandrova which absolutely was worthy of a CC billing for a home prospect to face. Once someone withdraws from the tournament and the schedule is set, can they even move a match off a show court/swap it for something else? Not sure if I've seen that before. For instance what if Raducanu withdraw and it was Zarazua v Alexandrova?
