all the active player could never!Mamma Mia Paolini makes her second slam final and her first Wimble Womble final
Name a better one. This is a WTA thread.Please. This is not even close to the men's matches. Best match for WTA for sure.
Namely that someone's having an awesome late-career surge in the rankings! Fun stuff.Paolini making back to back major finals tells you all you need to know about the state of womens tennis
This is toooooo tightttttt, I can't handle these line balls ahhhhhh!!!
Paolini making back to back major finals tells you all you need to know about the state of womens tennis
Oh man, I was hoping for Donna to somehow pull this one out, but fair play to Paolini. What a match!!
Wawrinkaolini.Namely that someone's having an awesome late-career surge in the rankings! Fun stuff.

Vekic with ice in her veins, and water in her tear ducts.
On that we can agree. That should have been punished way more frequently than it was today. That serve, especially 2nd serve has no business seeing a major final.
That's not what that word means. If you're way ahead close to the finish line, and then continue to lose a string of points, that's a choke (sometimes). In this match it was close all the way to the finish line. Conclusion: no choke.Choke.
You weren't missing her, she was just not there. Ie this year is the first time she's won a single Wimbledon main draw match periodWhere was Paolini before 2024? She is 28, and I haven't heard from here before. I was probably not paying attention.
Poor quality field. That serve, especially 2nd serve has no business seeing a major final.
Happy for her though, extremely likeable person
I made the joke elsewhere about the Errani pasta doping excuse. It is a bit odd for her to suddenly have this breakthrough but I won’t accuse her of anything. Good for her.Bizarre that a 28-year-old player with a mere two singles titles in her career should suddenly bippity-bop her way into two straight slam finals.
And one of those victories being a 1000 tournamentBizarre that a 28-year-old player with a mere two singles titles in her career should suddenly bippity-bop her way into two straight slam finals.
Or how about just giving Paolini some credit? Why does everything have to be a choke or weak era? Lets just enjoy this remarkable story. Just my opinionPaolini making back to back major finals tells you all you need to know about the state of womens tennis
Yeah amazing. I would like to see a detailed analysis of what changed. Like "she already had all that pace on her ground strokes, but too many UE" or "Her ground strokes went up by 10mph in the last two years". Very curious what made the difference.4-16 before this season, as a 28 year old, straight to 15-2 with two straight slam finals. Has there ever been a more remarkable career turnaround this late in a career? It's unreal
It pains me to hear those first three. Actually I take that back, only Errani reaching a final pains me.Errani made a GS final. Radwanska made a GS final. Dementieva made 2 GS finals. Kerber won three GS finals. All with veeeeery attackable serves.

She did well and had some great matches at the United Cup start of this year if I remember right too, some tennis people say being in that team environment watching the higher ranked pros compete and train, having that support helps your career and mindsetBizarre that a 28-year-old player with a mere two singles titles in her career should suddenly bippity-bop her way into two straight slam finals.
