Hopefully Stearns/Andreeva is televised.

Sorana v. Sofia should be fun.

Nice comeback for Navarro over Siniakova, that looked like an L when I called it a night.

Mertens was scheduled to play Tsurenko, Lesia withdrew like usal, Cocciaretto beat Elise instead.

Straights for Sorana over Sofia.

Might sound harsh here but Badosa just needs to take some time to recover and withdraw from events. As Spy said, this is another retirement, already her 2nd this year after retiring in Hua Hin a few weeks ago.

She's withdrawn a number of times once the draw has already been completed with her name in it as well which is crap.

In the last 7 months:
Wimbledon she retired with injury in the 2R
Canada she withdrew after the draw came out meaning a lucky loser got in.
US Open she again withdrew after the draw came out meaning a lucky loser got in.
Hua Hin she retired in the 2R
Despite retiring in Hua Hin she remained in the Abu Dhabi list and withdrew after the draw so a lucky loser got in.
Now retired in Dubai.

In 7 months she's withdrawn after the draw was done 3 times and then also retired 3 times.

6-2, 2-6, 6-1

Women.
I thought that was bad, and then I saw Kudermetova vs Yestremska was 6-0, 1-6, 6-0. Just, how?

I appreciate none of you idiots replying.
Hey, it was 4am in my local time zone when you posted that, so...

Idiot #7 reporting in.
Idiot 8, reporting in.

Really, what on earth is going on with her? Is her relationship with Tsitsipas messing with her head? Have all these injuries been different things, or one recurring issue?

That is odd. Storm had bigger problems though, only winning 3 games.

Jabeur out, replaced by Bucsa in Kalinskaya's next match.

The commentators said it was her injury of a spinal stress fracture acting up again, which she had surgery for and had been out for several months last year. And she was in pain where she couldn't continue and had to retire this first round. She had broken down in tears, and I'm worried and hope that this ongoing problem isn't career ending for her. She's a great, fun to watch player and had a number of wins over top twenty including Swiatek, Sabalenka, during her good 2021 season.

She's certainly not been allowed to reach her potential. She won Indian Wells and made YEC also. She's got the game to be a factor at all the majors especially on hard and clay though. This does seem a more serious withdrawal than previously. It's somewhat to be expected that you'd be cautious with some withdrawals and also you're likely to have new niggles appear when you have been off the tour for a while. Hopefully she's able to take the necessary time off now but she was probably looking for some form before IW and Miami.

Idiot #9 here - I sort of like it! It's like having your own personal spystud commentator feed without the annoying voices.

Pls do every match in every tournament - will subscribe

Gotta be penalties or some incentive for players who just won a slam, had almost 3 weeks off to not lose their next match.
