2024 WTA Sudden Death League: Dubai

Has everyone now been eliminated?
What happens to all those unawarded points?

A few more questions.
Since I am a newb here I have newb questions. :)
-Can you keep using the same BU as long as they are still in the tournie and you haven't used them as a winner pick?
-Do you simply need to be the last man/woman standing to win or do you need to choose six winners and make them all?
-It seems like there is no TTW 'winner' for each tournament? You just try to amass as many points as possible, is that right?
-If this is correct, let's say you are the only one standing after five rounds, you still keep playing even for the final round to see if you can get more points?
-What happens if there's a tie after round six, will there be a tie-break amongst TTW'ers? :)

Yes.
We weren't worthy enough gurus to earn them so big points only for the big gurus. (In other words: nothing. They kind of went by. )

As I'm not among the organizers I leave the rest for Nounforcederrors - here you are! ;):D

But Mark... good showing for the first timer and in a tournament full of surprise results! (y)

@Mark-Touch
If your BU is not used, and most of the time she's not, you can certainly use her in a later round as your main pick.

High-point tourneys have more rounds than lower-point tourneys. We don't play 250s, and select from 500s, 1000s, all the Grand Slam events, plus Olympics.

You try to win one round after another to get into the final, and must win that final round, to be a champion. (Last year we had five champions in this tourney.) There's no play-off in the tourney after that. We fall by the wayside whenever our pick loses - sudden death. If we keep winning, proceeding through all the rounds, we take our trophy and run (after our on-court interview, thanking the crowd, sponsors, coaches, etc.)

You are credited with the points you win per tourney in the Google sheets, accessible by pressing the blue "League File" link near the OP beginning. On those sheets you will see that, like "real" players, we have a Ranking points list (points accumulated in last 12 months) and a Race points list (points won so far in the present season).
Of interest are the tabs at the bottom of the Google sheets. Click in, to find information about the season schedule, past champions, and more.
(Btw, Hsieh's been off the boil a while...sad to see. Maybe Mertens isn't the best fit for her after all?)

Thanks for all the info!
Yes I saw the poor result for Hsieh in the doubles side.
I like Mertens and even though she does well in singles and doubles (and did win the A.O. with Hsieh) she doesn't
seem like a really good fit for Hsieh.

Wang was learning quickly with Su-wei and I think she's a better fit actually.

Yes, agreed, Xinyu seemed to me to be the best partner she's had in the last few years. Mertens just looked exhausted in her last tourney with Hsieh?
Here's hoping she'll be around long enough so we can continue to appreciate your nice thread.

Thiem: "I am not a machine." Guess we can't expect Iga to win every tourney she's in!
Indian Wells is up next - maybe more standard results then?

I've been a fan of Kalinskya's for several years now, but never got too excited about her because of all the disappointments she's delivered in that time.

And today's disappointment is typical of what I am talking about.

After slaying three dragons in succession:
'Penko, Gauff and Iggy Pol ™,
you'd think that finishing off the tournie
playing Paolini would be relatively easy.
Not if you are Kalinskya with her nerves. :(

Up 5-3 in 3rd.
She loses the next four games and the match 5-7.
That's called choking. :(

Serving at 5-6, all four points were just disgusting!

But the bright side is that she can still try to win her first WTA title.
And she also picked up a cheque today of more than $1/4 million.

Don't worry Anna I'll continue being a fan of yours. :)
