2024 WTA Sudden Death League: Wimbledon

Poots victory was so sweet that I don't care the slightest that I now drop out of this game. (And PDJ and other veterans may also remember that after 4 correct picks I feel I'm not completely stupid considering the matter in question, so it's already "a small victory")

Gotta give respect to you two brave pickers of Krejcikova - no way I would have put my faith on her these days. (y)

Four correct picks is much better than bombing out in R1 like me, with Cirstea's defeat to qualifier Kartal! Yulia played well and held her nerve - don't know if she can beat Osty up next for her, I wouldn't bet on it.
And Krejci was just plain lucky that Bouzas M., new to GS play, was exhausted. I'll bet you a cup of coffee she loses to Collins in Rof16.

Another Wimbledon in the books and this one sees us crowning a winner! Congrats @PDJ for becoming our first ever Wimbledon Champ. @PDJ Also takes the lead in the race with the win. The race itself is becoming slightly defined at roughly the halfway point of the season but nothing is close to being set in stone yet with lots of points up for grabs coming up.

I'm still (barely) clinging onto the #1 ranking, with @NaomiKonjuhPotapova nipping at my heels. I have a fair amount of points to defend the rest of the year so #1 is very much in play. Anyone with a save still, keep an eye on them because you wanna make sure you use them.

Thanks everyone for playing! Next up is the Olympics. Slightly different format there in that if you make the SFs and lose, you can still pick for the "bronze" match. Threads will be up soon once we finalize the points for the games. Put your clay glasses on as we are going to Paris again before switching to hardcourts.

Thanks everyone for playing and thanks @Boozyuzi and @nounforcederrors for all the admin work :)
