Madison will be holding the trophy on Saturday.
1981Oh yeah, that was the 1980 US Open Final vs McEnroe?
Zverev's winner speech "This is my foking court."Two BEAUTIFUL speeches. Top THAT, Sinner and Zverev.
MurrayVic are saving that title for Wimbledon.Murray really got screwed again, could have won the coach title at AO.![]()
She looked very happy in the speech though, joking around with Keys as well. The Happy Slam....
Well Sabalenka doesn't look too happy to me....
Zverev to come out with Gonzo fh you mean!?Can history repeat itself tomorrow?
Has been since after the last full year the GOAT federer played.(After 2019)Women's tennis is just more interesting than men's tennis right now.
Maddie may keep it going! Certainly didn’t suffer a hangover after winning Adelaide that’s for sure!!I realize this is way too soon but do you guys see Keys continuing her run from here? Maybe runs at Indian Wells and Miami?
EDIT: Actually just realized Doha and Dubai are first up on the women's side in terms of 1000's.
Keys wins the Australian Open with the most games lost in AO history apparently. Huge.
I love how even though she was fuming with the result she's such a seasoned champ now that she composed herself and gave Keys the deserved credit. She's got a great personality, different but also a similar humour to Li Na who produced many a highlight in her speeches alone.Sabalenka with her humour towards her team.
“As always, that’s your fault guys, I really hate you, I don’t want to see you for a week.”
You can’t dislike her.
Barbara Jordan the next year was higher seeded than Keys, but lower ranked.I think Keys is the lowest ranked Australian Open women’s winner since Chris O’Neil in 1978?
The closest I can see was Kenin at #14 in 2020. Keys was #19.
That was the first women's AO Final with an extended 3rd set since Navratilova beat Evert 7-5 in the 3rd set of the 1981 Final.

Never seen a player leave the court before the trophy presentation in the slam final.
Epic. She may end her career with 1 major, but beating Rybakina, Swiatek and Sabalenka is no fluke no matter what anyone says.Brutal and deep draw. No wonder.
Collins, Ryabakina, Svitolina, Swiatek, Sabalenka
Oh man that sure was something, damn over 26 years ago!
Hey @Hitman, you're getting likes for this, but the one who put in the work and honestly searched one wiki page after another was me.Remember folks, first time since RG 2009 that the winner of the title beat BOTH number one and two for the title.
Kuznetsova at RG 2009 beat #2 Serena Williams in QF and #1 Dinara Safina in the final.
IW is too slow for her, only ever make QF once.I realize this is way too soon but do you guys see Keys continuing her run from here? Maybe runs at Indian Wells and Miami?

Serena was 81 when she won it in 07.I think Keys is the lowest ranked Australian Open women’s winner since Chris O’Neil in 1978?

Dont think yonex sales will skyrocket in any case.
But madison has a good chance if sabalenka starts choking
Keys went 3 sets in 5 of her 7 matches. is that record for a major?
I think Ostapenko at the 2017 French Open did as well.Keys went 3 sets in 5 of her 7 matches. is that record for a major?
