Late thread to a tourney that no one seems to care. :)

Only created this because of Nishikori comeback sighting.

Nishikori d. Shapovalov 6-2, 6-3
Nishikori d. Khachanov (3) 4-6, 6-3, 7-5
Nishikori d. Norrie 6-3, 3-6, 6-2

Semifinalists:
Shang
Nishikori
Muller
Munar

Almost forgot how early Kei hits all his shots. It is quite obvious how early he hits compared to his opponents. He looks the best so far since his comeback effort. He's on his 8th match winning streak since his Nov Helsinki title.

I actually bought tickets specifically to watch him live yesterday and man has he still got it...solid early striking off both sides and changes directions well - especially when gojng DTL where he seems to know how to balance risk-taking with some kinda safety, using spin and not hitting too close to the lines to at least make it awkward for the opponent if not outright winning the point.

It's just a good thing he seems to have regained some form at this age after a long injury break.

Saw the highlights of the semi.

A few "surprises". First, I thought Munar was going to win judging from the early set, but Muller intercepted many of the rallies with brilliant volleys.

Then there's the Raducanu-style retirement from Shang where he looked perfectly fine prior to retirement, even hitting many great winners, then shook hand with Nishikori donning a Raducanu-style retirement smile (grin?).

So, Nishikori v Muller it is for the Final.

Even for a 250 event, Muller vs. Munar is a pretty no-nameish semifinal -- two guys ranked in the 60s, neither of whom has ever won anything as of age 27. Then Nishikori benefits from a sudden retirement. Maybe this should be downgraded to an ATP 125.

Congrats to Muller, he is a tough competitor. Nice to see Nishikori back, when he is on it is a sight to behold. Nobody can take the ball earlier than him robbing the opponent of time and space

Muller becomes the 1st maiden titlist of the 2025 season in his 2nd title match (l. to RCB at 2023 Marrakech). He had to come from behind in every single round always losing the 1st set. He is The Comeback Kid of the season so far!

The 35 year old Nishikori was playing in his 1st title match in 6 years (since winning 2019 Brisbane). On Monday he will re-enter the top #100 rankings for the 1st time since June 2022.
