I know what you mean. My kryptonite is Svitolina. Every.single.time I pick for her she loses, and whenever I pick against her, she wins.
So now I avoid her completely.

If only I'd had Fritz available in the SFs, I would've picked him, and then chosen Novak for the finals - and like you, be rooting for him.
Mensik is someone I haven't seen enough of, can't tell if he can beat an exhausted (but motivated) Fritz. So I didn't dare pick Mensik.

What? I'll take the W and run, but it's both sad and absurd.
Sad because I don't like to see Djoko lose.
Absurd because a couple of my early picks came very close to losing, probably should have lost.
In the end, circumstances forced me into a default choice of Mensik in the F.
