2025 ATP Tour - gallery, interesting facts, review

Enceladus

Legend
The 2025 season at ATP Tour is over and we have the opportunity to look back and remember the results and stories of this season, the two main factors of which were Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Just like last year, the two won all four Grand Slams, again sharing the trophies in a 2:2 ratio, although in a different composition. They won all the tournaments where they both started, occupied the top two places in the ATP ranking and met in three Grand Slam finals.
In addition to Sinneraz, I would like to mention Novak Djokovic, who this season reached the magnificent milestone of 100 tournament titles on the ATP Tour, or the young and talented Joao Foncesa, who drew the attention of the tennis world with a suprising victory over Rublev at the AO.
After a year, here is the ATP gallery again with statistics and medallions of the participants of the ATP Finals/YEC. Enjoy it and all good in next year!

World Tour Finals participants' season review:

The most successful tennis player of the 2025 season is Carlos Alcaraz, who won two grandslams, 8 ATP tournaments (on all surfaces and in both environments), won three Masters titles and achieved the YE1 trophy for the second time in his career. He started the season at Australian Open, where he advanced to the QF, in which he lost to Djokovic. Shortly after that, Carlos won in Rotterdam, then came Indian Wells, where he defended title from the previous two years, he lost in SF to Draper. Carlos did much better on clay, where he won the Masters tournaments in Monte Carlo and Rome, and was thus in a great mood for Roland Garros. On the way to the final, Carlos fought a difficult but successful fight with Shelton, destroyed Paul and won in SF over Musetti. In the final, Carlito was met by his rival Sinner, and the two fought an epic battle. Carlito lost the first two sets and in the 4th set faced three MPs of his opponent. However, Carlos refused to lose, turned away match points, broke Sinner's serve when Sinner served for the win and Carlos won the 4th set in TB. In the 5th set, Carlos got a break and also served for the win, but just like his opponent, he lost a break and the fate of the entire tournament had to be decided by Super-TB. Carlito won that in his favor with a sovereign ratio of 10:2, thus winning the RG and winning his 5th GS title. The grass section of the season followed, Carlos confirmed his versatility when he won the tournament at Queens Club and then headed to Wimbledon, where he defended the triumphs from the previous two years. He advanced to the final, but in it he first knew the bitterness of defeat in the Grand Slam finals, for the first time he received a tray for runner-up instead of a trophy. In the final, Carlito came up against a motivated Sinner, who wanted to avenge his cruel loss at RG. Carlos lost in four sets. Further encounters between Carlos and Sinner took place in Cincinnati and at the US Open, both of which were won by Carlos. At the US Open, Carlito caused a stir with his shaved head, but he went through the tournament like a knife through butter, in 6 matches Carlito never lost set. Carlos winning over Djokovic in SF and defeating the Serbian grandmaster for the first time on hard surface. In the final, Carlito met Sinner again and won in 4 sets, achieving his 6th Grand Slam triumph and equaling tennis legends Boris Becker and Stefan Edberg. At the same time, Carlos returned to the world No.1 position after two years and in this position will enter into next year. Carlos closed the 2025 season with a loss to Sinner in the YEC final.

Jannik Sinner started the 2025 season at the Australian Open, when he defended title from the previous year. The biggest problem on the way to the final was caused by Rune, who took one set from Jannik. In the final, Jannik won over Zverev without losing a set and achieved his 3rd Grand Slam title and second in a row. Shortly afterwards, he reached an agreement with WADA regarding his positive test for the substance Clostebol from Indian Wells 2024. WADA imposed a 3-month ban on Jannik, so Jannik will not return to the circuit until Rome. It should be added that a large part of the tennis public, including pro tennis players, didn't like this agreement and they talked about favoritism towards Jannik. After returning to the courts, Jannik advanced to the final in Rome and for the first time this season he measured his strength with his rival Alcaraz. Alcaraz won in two sets. The French Open followed, where Jannik advanced to the final for the first time in his career and it was his first GS final outside of a hard surface. In the final, Jannik faced Alcaraz and they fought an epic battle. Jannik won the first two sets and in the 4th set he had 3 MPs on his opponent's serve. However, he failed to convert either of them, lost the fourth set and the deciding set went to Super-TB at 6:6. In it, Alcaraz outplayed Jannik 10:2, thus Jannik first tasted the bitterness of defeat in the GS final. However, Jannik did not let this heartbreaking defeat break him. At Wimbledon, he won his first three matches very smoothly, but in the 4th round he ran into big trouble, his opponent was Dimitrov. He won the first two sets over Jannik, but in the 3rd set Dimitrov suffered a shoulder injury and could not continue the game. Despite the unturned deficit, Jannik advanced and made it to the final again, where he met Alcaraz again. This time Jannik did not hesitate, he defeated the Spaniard in four sets, won Wimbledon for the first time in his career and achieved his 4th GS trophy. This was followed by the North American summer section of the HC tournaments, where Jannik defended his triumphs at Cincinnati and the US Open from last season. However, he lost in the finals to Alcaraz in both tournaments. In the fall, Jannik did great, winning tournaments in Beijing, Vienna, Paris Masters and finally ATP Finals in Turin, where Jannik won all 5 matches without losing a set and succeeded in the final over his rival Alcaraz.

At the start of the season in Australia, Alexander Zverev reached his third career Grand Slam final, losing just two sets on his way to the final at the Australian Open and advancing past tournament record holder Djokovic in the SF, who gave up the match after the first set. In the final, however, Sascha fell short of a brilliant performance by defending champion Sinner. Sascha won one tournament this season, the BMW Open in Munich, which coincidentally happened to be played on his birthday (April 20). He also reached the finals in Stuttgart and Vienna, but lost to Fritz & Sinner.

SF at AO and QF participation in Wimbledon, entry into the TOP 10 and reaching 5th place in the ATP rankings, a premium triumph at Masters tournaments. This is how 2025 in Ben Shelton's career would be characterized. At the Australian Open, he took advantage of the hesitation of the favorites in his quarter of the spider and for the second time in his career advanced to the SF phase at GS tournaments. There, the defending champion Sinner was already beyond his strength. Ben lost in 3 of the 4 Grand Slams with future champion, at AO and Wimbledon with Sinner and at RG with Alcaraz. Ben won his only title in the North American summer part of the season, winning the Masters tournament in Toronto, when he defeated Khachanov in the final.

Taylor Fritz started the 2025 season with a triumph in the team competition of both professional tennis circuits, the United Cup. He won two tournaments on grass, in Stuttgart and Eastbourne. His best result at the Grand Slams is SF in Wimbledon (where he reached the QF phase twice in previous editions), although he was in danger of being eliminated in the 1st round, against Mpetshi Perricardo he found himself in a 0-2 deficit in sets, but managed to turn the match around. In the SF, the defending champion Alcaraz was beyond his strength. At the US Open, Taylor made it to the QF, where he was not enough for the Grand Slam record holder Djokovic.
Taylor_Fritz_S.jpg

At the beginning of 2025, Alex de Minaur reached the QF stage at his home Grand Slam, the Australian Open, but was not allowed to go any further by the later champion Sinner. Alex failed to break the curse this season either and is still waiting for his first SF participation in the Grand Slam, in addition to the AO he also reached the QF at the US Open, where he lost to Auger-Aliassime. Alex won one ATP title, in Washington, where he won a close fight with Davidovich Fokina.

Félix Auger-Aliassime won 3 ATP titles in this seaso and after a long time he managed to make a deep run in Grand Slam tournaments, at the US Open he advanced to SF, gradually defeated Zverev, Rublev and de Minaur and his journey through the tournament ended on Sinner's racket. He played with Sinner in the final of the Masters tournament in Paris-Bercy, Felix lost in two sets.

Lorenzo Musetti reached the TOP 10 of the ATP ranking for the first time in his career and experienced the best part of the season on clay, in Monte Carlo he advanced to the final, where he was not enough for Alcaraz, in Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros advancef into SFs, in two cases he lost to Alcaraz and once to Draper. In this season he don't won any tournament, although he was in the final 3 times.

Well very done and you are keeping the good Doctor's legacy alive. (y) Just a slight thing I saw on Madrid Open where the winner and runner's up name are the same. I tell you, I hope Fokina can finally get over the hurdle and win one of these titles. He's losing all these close finals and he lost some heartbreakers this year. I hope Musetti can get over the hurdle next year as well.

Thanks, fixed. ;)
As for Fokina, I felt sorry for him, he narrowly missed out on the title in Washington. Well, hopefully the 2026 season will be more favorable for him.

Yea that Washington loss was the most heartbreaking of all for him. I really thought he was going to do it and then...:X3:. It's a mental block and I hope he can get over it.

There is one review missing, a certain player who qualified but skipped the YEC... :p

Great collection, I hope the good Doctor will be happy if he ever sees it. Thrilled for my man Ruud winning Madrid, Mad Lad finally ending his drought, and Mr Stunning breaking the triple digits barrier of course.

The Italian tennis team celebrates a Davis Cup hat-trick, a streak no team has managed since the early 1970s. The Italians won traditional team event despite Sinner's absence, all points were secured by Berrettini & Cobolli in singles matches. Overall, this is the 4th Davis Cup trophy for Italy.
