Basavareddy already looks tired. The pressure of playing Djokovic. It must be some experience for him though. He'd much prefer to face and lose to Djokovic than most others.

He was playing really well early on, moving Djokovic around and hitting well but then he cramped and it looks like the fitness isn't quite there for him but that will come with time and he's still very young so maybe a potential top 20 player in the future?

Yes, it is quite common for the young guys to have some fitness issues, which they should learn to manage later. That cramp of Alcaraz v Djokovic at RG comes to mind.

I saw some of Nick''s AO practice sessions and he's moving like a semi truck around the court.

Not surprised by Fearnley, he did a decent match against Novak last year at WB.

Basavareddy missed the volley but the construction of the point was good. I like that. He has the potential to be a Nishikori level player.

Usual clutch serving from Novak. Novak is the last guy remaining from the Golden Generation and it's good that he still plays this well.

Novak wants to finish off quickly which makes sense. He would love to finish early rounds well within 3 hours at this stage of his career.

Slight blip at the start of the match but Djokovic gets his first win with Murray there under his wing.

4-6 6-3 6-4 6-2.

Huge serving in that match with 23 aces!

Into R2.

The kid seems to be enjoying this moment. I like that. He definitely has the right attitude to succeed. Best of luck to him. Novak safely into R2.

New Balance putting Tommy Paul in the Green and Gold is sneaky, that's our Aussie colours and he looks like he's the Aussie on court. Except it's actually Chris O'Connell who is in pink.

Very misleading ;)

Eurosport commentators wondering if B03 is a good idea for first week of slams and Henman saying he's hard against it but thinks the game should be sped up by keeping the shot clock at 25seconds but have the timer start exactly when the point ends, not this delay some umpires seem to do.

Gotta say, I agree entirely with him.
I can't think of any sport, especially an individual sport, where a match lasts for up to 5 hours, not sitting down playing chess but constantly running around. The shot clock should be retired and players should only be penalised if they deliberately waste time. Slams are BO5 for seven rounds; let's be reasonable; players are only human.

Very few matches last a full 5 hours tho, on average its around 3 hours and there are only 4 grand slams in the year where B05 is mainly implemented. I don't think it's unreasonable to try and speed up the game and quite frankly it separates the men from the boys. This is what they train for, if we start easing things then they can start coasting fitness wise and I don't think that's right.

LET'S GO CHRIS!

Might be 11:30PM in Melbourne but Chris O'Connell has just forced a 5th set against #12 Tommy Paul!!

Up the Aussies, we've already had 9 go through today, let's make it 10.

Those birds in Australia scare tf out of me.
Until like that? :happydevil:

First couple of rounds could stay best of 5 but if you lose first 2 sets match is over.
