I just saw live match in which Novak beat Zverev
Unlike yesterday's exhibition between Alcaraz and De Minaur, here they played to entertain the public, ergo, the result does not count for anything.
Much more reliable to see how they moved on the court, I saw Djokovic move very well, and Zverev seems to have solved the problem that forced him to withdraw from the recent ATP Cup.

He ain’t beating current Sinner. Sinners serve and drop shot are deadly
He’s beaten “current Sinner” several times.

For a less blustery take: Alcaraz is obviously more likely than Sinner to lose before the final, but should they both make it there, I feel it’s probably a 50-50 affair. Alcaraz has what it takes to beat anyone in the draw. Just has to keep his game actually dialed in, which obviously he failed to do spectacularly at both hard court slams last year.

Not on these courts. Sinner should prevail in 3 or 4. Also too much pressure on completing the career slam. Look at Roger and Rafa historically

Did you see his serving performance against Fritz in the ATP F? That was the best serving performance I’ve ever seen from him. If he serves like that, he’s surely winning AO and bagging Wimbledon coupled with the dropshots I saw in that match as well as the exhibition recently

Damn, Djokovic, Zverev and Sinner from the quarters on is a hellacious draw for Carlos. Draper potentially in the 4th round is no cupcake either.

Djokovic with Opelka potentially then Dimitrov, Alcaraz, Zverev, Sinner is wildly tough as well.

This is why the top 2 seeds are important. Sinner and Zverev have relative breeze draws compared to Alcaraz and Djokovic.

Djokovic has done enough practice.

3 matches in Brisbane. And now an exho set vs zverev on RLA.

Plus Nishesh will likely make him practice a bit more in r1.

This isn't gonna be the year for Carlos.
I wonder if he's just going to be one of those players who never consistently takes to the AO - not because of the surface or because on paper he can't do well there or win it, but there's a history of some top players just never being consistent early season guys. Being ready to essentially open the season with a Slam after a long season and little time off isn't going to be everyone's thing.

The Chainz-Zed-Zod combo for Zverev is probably my favorite player nickname.

Fonz for Fonesca is new (since he's relatively new) but I'm here for it. Though I'd urge "The Fonz" as a Happy Days throwback.

Sinner couldnt ask for a better draw.

Hmmm, watching Moutet take out local favorite Popyrin in the first round should be pretty entertaining. I'm sure the Aussie fans are going to be loving Moutet, and he will be loving them right back!

Some seem to make value judgements in reference to height, while mocking those perceived as short, such as Alcaraz.
Wait, are we talking about women on dating apps, or tennis fans?
I doubt that the current Kyrgios can cause him any problems,
Kyrgios is losing first round, and may not even complete that match. The guy's body just isn't up to it right now, probably because he is too lazy to train properly.

Brooksby will take out Fritz, again.
Yesssss, excited to have Brooksby back! Tennis needs more personalities and unconventional games!

Agree.

My fav Raul (@Better_Call_Raul) despite being a purported expert on all things tennis (and electric vehicles) pretended to be unaware of Brooksby who definitely stands out in tennis for his unconventional game.

I hope Brooksby has improved his weak serve during his long WADA approved absence. The last tournament Brooksby played before his absence was AO 2023 where he beat the #2 seed Ruud.

Based on this site (and reality), men might have more of a height hangup than women.

Well Fed had the goat on clay standing in his way, otherwise, he would have completed the career grand slam back in 2006 or 2007…
Nadal had to improve his hardcourt game and tactics, which he did and he achieved the career grand slam in 2010 winning the us open at 24, pretty remarkable. Alcaraz in a position to do it at 21 is even more remarkable

Crazy Tennis Abstract 2025 Australian Open Men's Draw Forecast. Hardcourt Elo and draw loves Sinner's chances, almost 2/3. Too high if you ask me...

Jarry in the first round? Not exactly a pushover….
Well im not very concerned about R1-R3.

Djokovic has Alcaraz, Zverev and Sinner for QF, SF and F, i cant think of a tougher path. And i have not fogotten about Medvedev, who has become a punching bag for Nole & Sincaraz the last years.

Sinner couldnt ask for an easier draw from QF and out.

Sinner's progress in the exhibition match against Tsitsipas compared to the one against Popyrin.
He is slowly recovering the right fluidity of movements.
He is increasingly devastating on serve, even if Tsitsipas' chronic problems on return can leave slightly misleading impressions (he has never won more than two points per game in the rounds on Sinner's serve).
While on return the Italian has struggled several times to read the Greek's serve, including the second serve.
Let's say that in these exhibition matches there are no adjustments during the match, such as changing position on return or things like that.
The only thing that matters is to put minutes in the legs to find the right match rhythm, but also to find the right feeling with the court and the balls.

The upper part of the draw will probably debut on Tuesday, and I would say that Sinner is ready to defend the title, the goal being to progress step by step in the tournament, as he often accustomed us to in 2024.

Tennis Abstract predictions are in

Sinner 65.9%
Djokovic 13%
Alcaraz 6.7%
Zverev 5.3 %

These predictions are based on elo + path of each player.

Sinner having 66% is testament to his 2023 success where he has opened up nearly 200 pts elo gap vs the field. And he has been put in with his whipping boy Medvedev in the semis. Medvedev has himself to blame for becoming figurative whipping boy for Sinner.
