Get em out of there so we can enjoy the unpredictabilityThe sooner, the better actually
I think our Nole needs to buck the trend whenever he will win the next slam. So the draws don't matter as muchDjokovic's draw isn't that unbeatable if he is motivated, fresh and injury free. We all saw it in Paris, he still has the game to beat anyone if he plays his A game. I'm scared of Machac but if he can get past this tricky 3rd round, anything can happen. Let's not forget he never lost against Alcaraz on Hard courts yet... and Alcaraz is in poor form since the Olympics. He never lost against Zverev in BO5, and Zverev is reportedly injured since the United Cup. If he faces both Alcaraz and Zverev, I'll like his chances. Now if it's Sinner in the final, it's another story but he is easily the 2nd favorite for me. I do think night conditions would favor him in a final against Sinner (compared to last year, the Semifinal in the wind and the heat certainly gave Sinner a huge advantage).
Fonseca beat Wong 6-0 6-3Fonseca loses to Wong in qualifying, gets to play Rublev in the first round. Tough matchup!
Thanks, that makes more sense! Not sure how I misread that. As for the Rublev encounter, apparently Fonseca took a practice set off Rublev last year, so I'm curious to see this matchup.Fonseca beat Wong 6-0 6-3
If Djokovic is right he can still beat anybody with his A game, although I have reservations if he can still do that in a Best of 5 against Sinner or Alcaraz, but this is a draw from hell for him...Djokovic's draw isn't that unbeatable if he is motivated, fresh and injury free. Yeah I'll definitely be keeping an eye on him, though his career has been a bit disappointing since he came on to the scene as a teenager. Especially in the last year or so. However I haven't been following close enough to make any sweeping statements on what's gone on with him. I'll be looking forward to seeing how he does at the AO. He's certainly having himself a good week in Adelaide!Since you are Team Canada, let's say FAA.
A few folks have put Ruud's name out there.
Zeverev is #2 seed ???????? What how did that happen ? this is fixed. and Nishesh has to play his childhood hero and the guy that he modeled his game after ??![]()

Pun intendedJust eyeballing the Sinner draw (I was watching the Roddick podcast with their picks) and it's crazy that Sinner has pretty much a bye until the semis and even Fritz although he had a good year last year, is a fairly pedestrian semi matchup or Medvedev who has come off his worst season in a long time. He might not even get tested until the final. Ugh
OkIf Machac doesn't cramp, Opelka's got this!
Has Wawrinka lost weight? No ice between these two champs...
But is Sinner really 1.92?

Here we go again.
No, Sinner is a 5'4 midget. Happy now?
Underestimate the AO and GS record holder at your own peril.First back to back AO titles for Sinner.

Maybe. I like to put pictures of this type in the OP of tournament threads. That has to be AI, isn't it?
One observation - this year, Australian Open becomes the first Grand Slam tournament to have more open editions (57) than amateur editions (56) in its tournament history. An interesting milestone, for comparison, e.g. the US Open will reach the majority of open editions only in the mid-2050s!!Edition: 113th (57th in the Open era)

I think our Nole needs to buck the trend whenever he will win the next slam. So the draws don't matter as much
The best thing that could happen was being in opposite of Sinner's half. Rest, draws don't matter at this pt. Nole has to play out of his mind and he can. But also likely he doesn't
Its Federer 2019 situation all over again. With Sinner becoming our Djokovic.
Not sure why 2024 USO specifically. Why not Wimby 2024. Or RG 2024. Not sure about USO 2024.I think for the 2024 USO was the first time in at least a decade that the draws do matter for Djokovic.

This is overblown natural advantage and such bsTwo reasons. First, Nole has a natural advantage over most of the field on clay and grass courts. Also, after the Olympics, he was a little checked-out, and a player like Popyrin coming in on a high note could take advantage.
Based on this site (and reality), men might have more of a height hangup than women.

Djokovic is hc goat.
Who disagrees Nole is not overall goat.I think there's more of an argument against Djokovic being HC goat than there is against him being the overall goat.
But even if we agree on that for a moment, he doesn't have Rafa-esque dominance level on hard, at least at the US Open.
At the match now, solid play by Otto, especially his serveFils down a set, 1-0 Virtanen.
As soon as I say that, he breaks back when Virtanen was serving for the set.Fils just can't get a foothold. THe Finn has played well, but Fils has been really underwhelming. I can't see him getting much beyond his current 20 with this game.
Lucky you. Enjoy!!At the match now, solid play by Otto, especially his serve
Because first rounds are lucky draws. Lol WTH.How come Gaston has an easier first round than the likes of Sinner?
Mine's been fine thru my Roku. Also good on my laptopIs anyone else's ESPN+ feed being laggy af?
For sure it's not an over demand situation like Tyson/Paul lol.
All my other platforms are streaming fine, this is frustrating.
Had the same problem a few days ago during qualifying. Not sure what ESPN+'s problem is but it's them not you.Is anyone else's ESPN+ feed being laggy af?

I watched a little bit of Nick practicing this morning. Goodness me he looked slow but he wasnt hitting it too badly for the small time I watched.Putting Nick at night is a bit disappointing. I know he's a local yokel, but that Tsitsipas v Michelsen match looks better on paper.
The scheduling is actually ridiculous and i'd be pissed off if I paid for Margaret Court Arena for today or tomorrow.Putting Nick at night is a bit disappointing. I know he's a local yokel, but that Tsitsipas v Michelsen match looks better on paper.
That was a stunning game by Nishikori to hold there, just gorgeous shotmaking.I forgot just how sweet Nishikori’s backhand is. He has excellent textbook shots.
