Youngest American into the 4R of the AO since Sampras in 1990.
... sampras being himself the youngest since ivanisevic the year before!
(lost to mecir in the QF at 17)

is becker the youngest player (open era) to have played reached a R16 match at the AO? (QF in 1984 at 16?)
(among all the slams, i assume it's krickstein at the 1983 USO, barely 16 y.o.?)

PS: the end of the noah-sampras match... ;)

Today is today, but what has set him back Simce he won Paris is precisely not being lethal enough with his forehand, when he IS at his best, he actually wins matches with his backhand, yeah his forehand sometimes is on and can be good, but match to match consistency is horrible with that shot, even in todays match there were patches where you could see his forehand is a liability, i like rune, i want him to do good but its obvious that whats sets him back is the forehand, his backhand is strong and consistent, can defend and attack good with It, serve is quite good, movement good, all court game is good, but his forehand is too patchy, and often fails to do damage with It, in my opinión, if his forehand was on par with the rest of his game he would be higher in the rankings
Thoughts on this statement ttw ?

Nothing changes even after fed and nadal retirement.

Every slam page count goes past 70 so that's about 3500 + posts for every slam.

New players keep coming, old keep going out. It's a circle of life.

Less than 2500 posts here . All big 3 still active

3100 here , Federer won this tournament

Nothing changes. Even after legends are gone the sport keeps moving on.

@Pheasant

This is always a dangerous thought.
I'm eating my words right now. I'm very disappointed with Fritz right now. I really expected to see him in the semis against Sinner. And I would have picked Sinner in 4 very tough sets. Nope. It turns out that the 38 year old Monfils finished off Fritz in 4 sets.

Fritz needs to win that kind of matchup. It’s right up there with losing to Holt at a Major; worse actually.
But I got you beat. I kinda thought Shelton had a decent chance to beat Egg at the 2023 USO semis. :giggle:

Gael Monfils loves being a star, and he contributes our top seed so far by felling Fritz in four

Edit: added Musetti, fixed the seeding

Djokovic has struggled against players that aren't really giving him power. Players that stay in the long points.
I am really excited about tonight's match. I hope I can stay up late enough to see it.
I mean, I think Djokovic will be fine. But Jiri can take the racket out of your hand.

Sorry, but tournaments slams are getting more and more boring...!!!

Everyone plays practically the same, with small difference.!!!

I watch it, because I love Tennis, but it's very sad

Did anyone else see Davidovich Fokina start clapping along with the “let’s go Tommy” chant someone bizarrely started at 5/1 in the 3rd lol?

Mensik is an idiot.
Before making statements about carelessness, he should ask himself how he managed to lose a match he had in hand against a player who today collected a paltry 3 games.

Of the 6 sets played today in the men's singles matches, 5 ended 6-1, good but not great.

Let's hope that the match between Djokovic and Lehecka in terms of emotion and balance can save this absolutely interlocutory day so far.

Zverev is going to lose, isn't he? He dominated the first set and he's only down one break, but it has that "Chainz is going to lose" vibe.
