I'll turn on the Australian Open, and it's known in advance that there will be two players (men, women) who will play on the end line with a two-handed backhand and will sometimes go to the net...

There are no players like Santoro, Bartoli, Graf, Sales, Blake, Federer, Henin, Mischa Zverev (serve and volley), Feliciano Lopez etc...

The variety of styles is low at the current slams, for example Shelton vs Shapovalov would be good to watch, but first such a duel has to happen...

Or Cressy vs M Zverev, but such a duel will not happen, today's tennis loses a lot because of it, top players cannot play spectacular and risky tennis, they have to play under the dictation of cold calculation...

They exist but they are not contenders is the best way to put it. The same with one-handed backhands. If it's not taught, players will never reach the top.

Alcaraz is also a bit of an exception.

Probably yes, but in smaller quantities, but it would be good if there were more of them... Isn't that right?!

Wouldn't you like to see Davidov with two forehands in a slam?!

Isn't it boring for you to see guys who play with similar tactics all the time?!

ADM through to the qf's in the only straight sets match of today. Dude faces Jannik next, but could have home support to bolster his confidence.
Michelsen did well to get to this stage - useful platform for the coming season.

I'm surprised Monfils is still playing at this level
It's so strange and baffling when a guy manages to do what Mofils did in the latter stages of that match: exhausted and barely moving, he was still able to keep up with a young, fresh, top 20 player!

How are pros not watching that and completely reevaluating the way they play? How can they justify always expending so much energy when there is obviously another way?

Look, I agree with you. There are way too many uninteresting and "cookie cutter" players on the tour. Look at Michelsen: a completely uninspiring style of play.

Sorry, but if your 2HBH is your best shot (and/or your serve), you aren't doing it right. It may be effective, but many of us aren't interested.

The saving grace of modern tennis is on-demand streaming services. Most of the time you can select any match you want, live or recorded, so you can concentrate on those players that are actually fun to watch. And if you haven't already, you should check Moutet out. Most entertaining player in pro tennis right now.

Agree with all that except you spelled "Musetti" wrong

If De Minaur wins tonight he’ll join Sinner as the only male player to have made the QF’s at the last 4 slams.

That’s crazy.

Something that: not Djokovic, nor Alcaraz, not Zverev or Fritz has done. Kid is consistent. He might not be the one making SF’s or winning but he’s just always there in the second week.
Kind of like David Ferrer in that regard. Very dependable top 8 player. Always there in the final stages of big tournaments - just couldn't ever break through past the Big 4 (like pretty much everyone else).

At least we have the certainty that if Sinner does his job, we will have a final with big names.
If Sinner reaches the final, it is certain that he will face one of Zverev, Alcaraz and Djokovic, which is not a given when thinking back to the last US Open.

The current state isn't boring for me, but I love variety. Always liked the older Zverev better than his brother.

Sonego had his opportunities to break Shelton's serve in the first set and was unable to capitalize on them.
Having lost the first set, the match now unfortunately seems to have taken a specific direction.
It doesn't matter. Shelton serves to close out the second set and Sonego breaks it.
