Zverev has a puncher's chance against Djoker. But I'm taking Djoker in 4. Djoker has been playing lights-out tennis the last 3 rounds. I watched the Sinner match this morning. He was incredible today; better than what he did against Rune. He's back and is almost as good as Djoker now.

Djoker will beat Zverev in 4, then will beat Sinner in 5. If Shelton somehow gets to the final, then Djoker will sweep him in straight sets. But I'm confident that Sinner will get by Shelton in 4 sets.

I've got a 1000.00 on Djoker to win the title now, which would pay out a profit of 3000.00. Let's see what happens. I'm nervous. But Djoker is playing lights-out. +300 was too good of odds to give a 10-time champ that is playing lights-out tennis. I had to take it. This is not Sore-Knee-O-Vic, folks. Get 2024 out of your heads. Djoker is back. And Vegas has the odds wrong on him. He should be +150 at the worst, not +300.
If Novak wins this years title, it would be Stuff for Legends, a Masterpiece

There are strong rumours going around that Djokovic might withdraw from his SF with Zverev. If he’s not fit enough then it is a smart move for rest of the year.

It would give Zverev has best chance to win a slam if true.

Afternoon match for Novak. I though organizers would have put this one at night session.
Certainly not what Novak wanted.

Rumours from who? The match is scheduled for 3:30am and it would be good to know beforehand.
It just what I seen online and some reports. However, they likely not reliable and guesswork. They probably assuming because he not practiced but he has did this before and still played in past. Of course french open 2024 is fresh in all our minds so we will have to wait and see. Let’s wait and see but so far nothing official so still scheduled to play.

We all know what's gonna happen unfortunately. If Novak feels like injecting some drama the result might be a lil more respectful.

This must be one of his last chances to bag #25 so it would be surprising if he opts out. (Unless ACTUALLY injured)

Game plan wise, I would love to see him take 3 steps into the court for all seconds serves and swing.

Zed will eventually start rolling them into the net out of fear.

Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley has reassured everyone about Novak Djokovic’s condition just hours before his semi-final against Alexander Zverev.

The Serb, struggling with a sore left thigh, has not yet trained since his quarter-final victory over Carlos Alcaraz, also canceling his session scheduled for Thursday.

“I spent time with Novak at 2:00 this morning and he was in good spirits,” Tiley told B92. “He and Carlos played an excellent match and I think he will be ready not only for the semi-final, but also to play beyond that.”

clickbait article.
2 this morning means 2AM. thats right after alcaraz match which finished at 1 am

No clue how this one will go. Zed should win, but any time he starts to put himself in there, his hair starts to stand on end.

Nole has no pity in his heart, so Zed can't expect him to lose it.

Zverev barring one of his usual chokes. He's much better than Alcaraz currently and i don't see Djokovic having amazing mobility after such a taxing match.
The game will be played at a time when the Serbian Wolf does not feel very comfortable.
If Zverev doesn't choke (as he did four years ago) this time he should beat a version of Djokovic who comes into this match with the last reserves of energy he has left.
:D

Its scheduled to be a day match.
It was never up for discussion.
:)

Tiley already shut down these rumors yesterday.

I really want to change my prediction to Djokovic in 4. But this match is so close and unpredictable. Zverev is returning better and the gap between them has reduced a lot.

But zverev is fit and nole isn't so staying with my zverev in four prediction.

If Djokovic was not having injury issues, I would say Djokovic in five.

The fact that the match is played in the day session I think could be irrelevant.
From what I read for tomorrow in Melbourne they predict fresh air and even possible precipitation.

A lot of people think Djokovic is putting it on or playing possum yet he was injured at the French Open last year which required surgery.

I think his body can't take the rigors of tennis much longer.

It would be crazy for Zverev not to win this. It's now or never. As hard as it may be, he HAS to win this (and then lose the final of course).

The first time in this matchup where I feel Z has the edge. He’s become a consistent force at the top and has the firepower that Carlos lacks in HCs. His mentality is still a question Mark and that could ultimately make the difference.

by firepower i think u meant serve. Z is so defensive making tommy paul look like an aggressive machine.

Djokovic is 37-12 in grand slam semifinals

2007 rg - loss to nadal
2007 Wimbledon - retired vs nadal
2008 RG - loss to nadal
2008 USO - loss to Federer
2009 USO - loss to Federer
2010 Wimbledon - loss to berdych, first bad loss
2011 rg - loss to Federer
2012 Wimbledon - loss to Federer
2013 rg - loss to nadal
2014 USO - loss to nishikori, second bad loss
2019 rg - loss to thiem
2024 AO - loss to sinner

Djokovic basically has had 2 bad losses ever in slam semis. A loss to zverev will be third bad loss because all others were to great players at least on the surface. I consider thiem in 2019 rg better than zverev in ao today.

It's a total of 4 losses to fed and 4 to nadal and 1 to sinner and thiem each. Not really bad losses at all.

Good news for Novak then
I agree. It’s a good advantage. Although imo Djokovic would always be favoured regardless of the scheduling because of Zverev’s mental midgetry.

Zverev might not win but @Hitman has a point that Zverev could potential sap a lot of Djokovic’s energy with a long, attritional match. Even if he doesn’t win, a player of Zverev’s physical and defensive calibre poses a threat to Djokovic as a SF opponent who has the potential to elongate the first SF into a tough and long match that drains a trenendous amount of energy in a way that few other players can against Djokovic in this type of form.
