I know all the rackets in her bag were scared when she got to the locker room as well, remembering their fallen comrade from the US Open a couple of years ago. Actually I kind of became a fan of hers today with her gracious runner up speech.

I've seen the racket smash now. It seems a bit silly and maybe even staged, as if she still wanted some press even in defeat. I would have understood it more if Keys had done it. But when you've just won 3 slams in a very short space of time? Does she have to win every slam or she'll smash stuff up?

Well. I suppose devils advocate could say if there is a good time to smash a racket you should do it at the end :sneaky: No warning or point penalty

The last game happened very quickly after a pretty brutal final. Her prospect of matching Martina Hingis of winning 3 consecutive Australian Opens (something even Serena never did) slipped away from her. She was angry she lost and smashed a racket.

She didn’t swear, she didn’t steal the moment from Keys who she shook hands with and congratulated and had kind words for. She had a moment and then cried under her towel and composed herself off court.

People here acting like she took a swing at Madison and had the crowd boo her for her maiden slam. Typical overreaction.

Say what you will Darcy.
She showed her true colors for all to see.
I've lost all respect for the woman.

You forget when you reach Sab's stature in the tennis world you become a role model for all the upcoming tennis youth.
Think about that for a split second.

No No No you dont understand what about Tony Jones! Tony Jonnnneeeeeeeeeeeeee..e...e.e..e...e...........s

Sabalenka is a fierce competitor - like many top athletes are, and should be. Unless one consider her grunts (yes, loud) a gamesmanship, IMO she's a pretty fair competitor, a gracious loser, and gives very entertaining on-court interviews - often making fun of herself or her team. I don't see her as a fierce competitor that tries to win at any cost by using many gamesmanship tactics when she's losing unlike we know who.

Wow the 'whole' Hsieh team is off today.

But between Siniak's cheeks and Hsieh's 'top' I'm good to go. The score doesn't matter anymore. Well kind of. :)

Hsieh's normal detached casualness isn't really working today. I realize that's how she just comes across, but still - yeah, she has great hands, but not moving her feet at all can lead to errors like those.

Looks like Hsieh is not the only one without clothing sponsor, Townsend has none as well. Where do they find these no-logo clothes - or maybe they remove the logo. Townsend is scheduled to play in singles main draw at the WTA 250 Singapore. Not much time to rest.

Too bad I'm not travelling to Singapore this year. Would love to see Townsend.

I like the way Townsend and Siniakova sit so close to each other and keep communicating. Ostapenko and Hsieh look so separated from each other, not very connected to each other.

You’re literally watching and cheering for Ostapenko in this doubles match. Are you even aware of your double standards? Do you need me to explain to you Ostapenko and smashing rackets and hitting ball kids?

But you said you’ll never watch Sabalenka again?

You’re an absolute joke with your inconsistency.

Did Ostapenko smash her racket after losing a slam final?

And I'm so sorry to disappoint you dear Darcy, I don't keep abreast of all the WTA players' past history.
I'm not like you.

Siniakova and Townsend are just so good. They're the kind of pair who could sweep the majors in a calendar year, though I know how rare that is. Rooting for them!
