boisson to win it all??
Gauff knows exactly what to expect today. She will have a specific plan on what to do when the crowd tries to disrupt her serve or bully her. I think Andreeva’s coach failed to prepare her properly, but on the other hand, there was no crowd riot during Pegula’s match so I guess it’s forgivable that she didn’t foresee this possibility.

French crowd weren’t even there for the JPeg match. Crowd was barely 1/10 full. Only started to care last night, it’s just embarrassing really. Least the Aussie crowd get in from the start of the tournament. They couldn’t even show up for her against Pegula. Weak crowd.

Same thing happened for Raducanu. Made that 4R run at Wimbledon but missed the cutoff date for main draw for USO so had to play qualifying. We all remember how that went.
I would say there's a big difference between 4th round of Wimby and semis of the French. Lots of players reach the 4th round of slams without much fanfare. I don't think anybody thought it was that big a deal that Raducanu was scratching around playing challengers in the lead up to the US Open. With Boisson it will look strange if she's not at Wimbledon.

Pretty good pic.

Boisson's rank will automatically qualify for Wimbledon.

The crowd wasn't that bad.

Apparently Boisson will have to play Wimbledon qualifiers. They did the allocations on June 3. I guess she could get a late main draw wildcard (?), but most of those tend to go British no hopers and former elites returning from maternity leave. And Venus.
I didn't realise. No automatic qualification. Bugger.

The more you complain, the worse they get.
That’s my point. The best approach is the passive one, like more experienced players do. When the crowd is raucous, pause the play and wait. If they scream during your serve, abort the serve and wait. Smart players are normally very patient when the crowd is against them.

Will it? Will anyone care? Let’s be real lol.

The French crowd weren’t even there for her in her 4R match against the literal #3 Pegula. Crowd was near empty. They only cared last night.

You think the Brits are gonna care come Wimbledon that some random French woman with one good run isn’t there? Lol. Hope Boisson can do more than Podoroska did with her RG SF run years ago or Zidansek. Me thinks not.

I wish Lacoste would give her some nice girly outfits.
She is so marketable. This crap of having to wear old Adidas ubersonics and Asics kits without a proper apparel and shoe sponsor will be a thing of the past soon thankfully. She already showed a huge amount of class and maturity with the way she dealt with Harriet Dart earlier in the year and now we have seen the first big run at a major (hopefully not the last). Very bright future ahead.

Sinner knows her from 'back in the days'* and asked her in the gym about her injury. Nice sketch of her playing style by him:

She is playing well, but she did get a Coco Puff ™ draw, no one can deny that.
That left her a lot of free time to start messing around with her eyelashes.

6-1 6-2 is a score line you'd expect Gauff to pull out when she's playing well against someone ranked 50+ on the tour, and she played the occasion much better than Pegula or Andreeva did. Silenced the crowd early with the double-break and never really let them get into the match outside a couple of games. She's also an excellent gate-keeper and rarely gets beaten by heavy underdogs in big matches.

Boisson's had a great tournament with some great wins under her belt. We'll see how her game translates onto other surfaces. Her record on clay vs hard court would suggest it doesn't but time will tell.

I hope Boisson enjoyed her 15 minutes. She will be back on WTA challengers tour in no time, probably for the rest of her career.

she will automatically get into the next 4 grand slams starting with the USopen so probably not until after that

Interesting.
So that alone is worth $400K.
yes this is big for her

USO & AO probably, but she sill will have to qualify for a lot of Masters in between.
lol you are not understanding how the rankings work. She will get into next FO and Wimb2026 also. She got 780pts just for reaching the semis of a grand slam. Go look at the live rankings No100 ranked women only has 696. That means even if she doesn't play another tournament she will still qualify until her FO points drop off in a year. She has very little points to defend(171) and she is going to be able to at least get more points for playing in those GS. She will at least be able to play in wta250, 500 for sure and being ranked 65 with 951pts right now means she probably is in 1000 also as 1000's have bigger draws allowing more players in. She is probably going to even get more points just for playing these also. She may or may not do well but she is set for the next year for sure. This is huge for her.

I doubt it. Most of them are two-week events now with 96-player draws and she's ranked in the top 70 so she'll get direct entry into all the slams, most 1000s and most 250s for the next 12 months. She might even get a few WCs.

The only ones she'll need to qualify for are the 64-player 1000 events like Wuhan, Qatar and Dubai, 500 events as they are usually stacked and the occasional stacked 250.

That's on the assumption that her ranking stays as it is and doesn't go up, which is probably unlikely as she very little to defend between now and RG 2026.
