Especially with her serve.
It's now the "magic" seventh game, so Marta please raise the level! (I wouldn't call lousy drop shot in the middle of the court "raising a level" but won a point against superb mover anyway!

Fernandez just hasn't got the weapons, and doesn't have the serve to pick up enough free points. She's ALWAYS in a battle to hold onto her own service games.
Danilovic is probably one of the most dangerous unseeded opponents in the field so it was a tough draw for her.

I watched Fernandez lose to Danilovic. Never looked in doubt. I think Danilovic might just take out Collins next round.
As for Stearns, looks like the pressure of being talked about as a dark horse might have got to her a bit. Whilst I never thought she was that, I thought she would at least win a few rounds.
What a nightmare for Kostyuk after playing generally very well recently.

Paolini is going to have grind hard to go deep. I think Maya Joint will give her a serious battle in Rd 2. Then Potapova in Rd 3. She'll be battle weary by the second week.
Seeds down then.. Fernandez, Stearns, Kostyuk, and Noskova.
In Noskova's case, I always feel that if a 25-32 seed draws someone around 36-50, they'll lose because they'll feel the pressure of a relatively even match, when probably they were expecting (or hoping) for some lame Mary from the qualifiers first up.

I didn't see her match today but was happy to learn she took out Sun, no slouch at all.

Keys has an interesting one against Saville. Kenin too against Gracheva.
Parks against Muchova should be interesting. Karolina always dangerous at the big tournaments but hasn't played since Miami.
Collins, Gauff, Pegula should be fine. Townsend even though a Lucky Loser I think could get an upset. Baptiste with a shot over the woefully inconsistent Haddad Maia. Bia will either win in a 3 set thriller or lose easily.
Pera/Garcia could go either way. Ditto for Dolehide/Minnen, Krueger/Lamens, Volynets/Garland, Kessler/Ruse, Li/Carle.
Montgemory has her work cut out against French Parry.
