Wow, I did not see this coming. Two errors from Medvedev on serve and he goes from mini-break up to mini-break down. Two serve points for Bublik - win them both and he wins the match.

In winning 2025 Halle, Bublik has:

1. Won his 1st title of the season, 5th overall and 2nd at 500 level.
2. Become the only active player to win multiple titles at Halle.
3. Become only the 2nd Russian-born player to win multiple titles at Halle (after Kafelnikov).

In reaching the final of 2025 Halle, Medvedev becomes 1 of 4 Russian players to make multiple finals there (along with Kafelnikov, Rublev and Bublik).

Bublik plays for Kazakhstan.

Edit: I realise in 3. you are careful to say "Russian-born". And I do realise that Bublik was Russian before he was recruited to play for Kazakhstan; he used to live in Russia and low lives in Kazakhstan. Still, in the end I feel we should go by the country the player represents. I mean, Bublik received hardly any support from Russia, which played a part in his decision to represent Kazakhstan. So I think for the purposes of tennis he is Kazakhstani. And Medvedev is the second Russian player to make multiple finals in Halle.

Bublik is really something else on grass when he's on. I don't know how he hasn't done more damage at Wimbledon besides that one 4th round. Well done this week. I don't think any of the top guys want him in their draw. Good to see Medvedev back playing well again also.
Yah man, you sum up my take. Have liked the dude for some time, and enjoy his madcap approach. But his recent 'eureka' moments / focus has been most impressive. He was my dude for the title, glad he got it done. Medvedev made a match of it in the 2nd - pity he could not take it to a a decider. Good to see him playing well again.
It'll be interesting to see how AB does at Wimbledon - who'll get the short straw?

Well, I missed this one. I thought the smart funny Russian would win. I guess family life has made him docile. Maybe the Swiss boy was right.

Doubles success all round for the home favourites at Halle and Queen's!! :)

At Halle, Krawietz and Puetz beat the Italians Bolelli and Vavassori in straights.

At Queen's, Cash and Glasspool beat the Croatian-New Zealand pair Mektic and Venus in 3.
