2025 Head Radical (Auxetic 2.0)

Too bright for me. I think if the grip were not that neon orange mango color, it would have been acceptable. Reminds me of the bright Donnay racquets that Agassi used.

You’re right, and if I were to buy one, the first thing I’d do is swap out that grip for brown leather. But first impressions matter and the stick just looks like an orange highlighter to me . I guess there are ppl who like that aesthetic. I’m glad the Gravity 2025 line is different.

Go bold or go home! Which Head has done with the new Radical & Extreme. They look great with white over grip or blue Tourna over grip.
Yeah the one nice thing about my Extreme Pro's is that that different colored overgrips and strings really play off the bright frame color. One of them right now I have purple Super Grap and Hyper G Soft in one of them and it surely stands out (purple, yellow, green) if you are into that. I don't mind actually as I am a racquet nerd at the end of the day.

do you know if there will be an 18x20 version of the mp like what was released on TWE as the tour? also by any chance do you happen to know of which grommets will fit the 18x20 version? any info is much appreciated:)

I will add in person the radicals are still quite bright but they’re not that dark and vibrant.

They’re more on the salmon side

How does the launch angle on these new radicals compare to the speed pro? I'm looking for a bit more spin / manueverability but enjoy the lower launch angle on my speed pro 2024. If i could get the same feel in a 16x19 would be ecstatic.

i had a 360+ radical and the 16x19 was very closed. there is currently an 18x20 version of the mp that is out right now you may be interested in.

Those in pictures above are not the retail frames and not even the current radical frames...just the paintjob...(they look like the old IG frames)
the head did look different and there is a sticker in the throat, but I was pretty high and didn't want to potentially lead to more confusion

Wh not try the current Radical? The Radical ist quite different to the Speed Pro. The SP is soft and sluggish, the Radical more crispy, more direct and less muted feel and way faster through the air (speaking about 360+ / Auxetic 1). Spin is good while not excessive with both as the SP does have a quite open 18x20. No real difference in terms of launch egal, maybe Radical more suitable for topspin play, whippy slapping, head speed and wrist move overall.

SP is more a baselines racket IMHO. Rock solid in terms of stability, good forgiveness, controlled and precise.

Radical fir the aggressive all court / attacking player. Fast, crispy, controlled and precise. Some similarity in terms of launch angle and spin potential, but it is not for the same kind of players. Just try it but why not try the current generation?

The 18x20 Radical MP Auxetic is super narrow in the stringbed. This is a board, even with low tension. Very low launch angle, really limited spin potential, extreme directional control, needs a lot of power from the players, not forgiving. I was reall surprised as I played the Pure Strike 18x20 for a long time and loved it except the dull feel if it. The Pastoring pattern is as closed as the Radicals but the PS has way more power, spin and firegivenes with similar control like the Radical MP 18x20. I play the regular Radical MP 16x19 (360+) and the 18x20 is a big difference to the 16x19. The 16x19 has way more power, spin and is a lot easier to play while providing nearly the same control like the 18x20. Fir me there were to big trade offs with the 18x20. I liked it for workout style power hitting, those session where you just hit / swing as hard as you can just can just for fun, but this is not an easy racket and I would prefer other 18x20s for sure (Pure Strike, White Out or even Gravity Tour) while O still love my 16x19 MP for the perfect blend of control, spin, power and still nice feel.

Be careful with the 18x20 it is one of the most demanding rackets I ever tried and I am not afraid regarding close pattern like power sticks.

doesn’t look like super closed to me, looks kinda middle of the road for an 18x20 but i have never played it as well.

Better actually look at the racket strung, not a video. I think it is really dense, definitely way more than the Whiteout or all the 100 square inch 18x20s, similar to the Pure Strike, but I think it is much more challenging to play. I liked it, but this is not for match play for me. I don't know if there are any denser patterns in current models. Can't be a lot.

yeah like i said i haven’t played the radical 18x20. the drill pattern looks similar to the blade pro 18x20 which i have played and liked though. i think it’s definitely a callback back to previous radicals. can’t be anymore closed than my LM radical 18x20 lol

This one will probably look awesome with a black Hydrosorb Pro grip and indeed with black strings, to offset the bright orange.
Can't wait to see these in real life. The YT video has the most horrible color representation ever. And the pros on tv (I am watching Stephens right now) have glossy paint finishes on theirs so that throws off the color a bit, too.
I guess we'll see what we'll see then.

black grommets would’ve been a better choice. Are there black grommets available for this racquet or only orange?

also fritz’ don’t look too gloss from the photos i posted above

If the Half CAPS of the new Gravity are so good why cant they put them on these Radicals?
i feel as if they added the half caps to the gravity because they will be phasing out the prestige line over the next 1-3 generations. I seriously hope I’m wrong though.

Spent more time with the MP and Pro today.
Nice sticks, easy power, muted, crisp but not overly stiff. The MP felt slightly softer but is considerably lighter too. About the same power as they are. I did not modify either one.
High launch angle (higher than the GT98 for comparison).

I gave them to a few other people in the club so I’ll post their feedback shortly.
High launch? Is that new? I have the Aux 1.0 Rad MP and have had a hard time getting the ball up and down. Often hit the net with it, while I don't have that issue with Blade or PA98.

Yeap, I have played with the 360+ Radical Mp for some months and then I switched to PA98. The launch angle of the 360+ Radical Mp is as low as the Ezone98. If the string pattern is identical to the previous versions then I cant see how the launch angle had increased.

Not sure if new, or the handle shape or…but was waaay higher than the GT100 18x20

Any recs on how it compares to the 2023 radical pro?
Is it worth it to upgrade?
Is there a significant enough change to not get the discounted 2023 instead of waiting for the 2025?

I think the Auxetic 2.0 will soften the feel up a little bit.

Radical has one of the tightest 16x19’s on the market. Would you really say it has a high launch angle?
Definitely was shooting high for me. But cannot compare it with the 1.0 version as I only spent a few hours with it initially. Although I do not recall that I noticed the same thing with the 1.0

they are nice and crisp but still too crisp and muted for my liking. I do not have the means to measure the RA.
GT98 measured 59RA however, it does not feel that flexy or soft, but feels plush and communicative.
The Radical MP is lighter, about 320-ish SW strung and about 33cm balance.
The Pro is more stable, heavier, close to 330SW (same strings, head poly, champagne color) and more HL

Will continue updating the rest of the week.
apologies, im interested in a switch but im confused. How can it be both crisp but plush but also muted and communicative?
i know the mp is maybe less controllable than the pro - is their extra free power in the Mp? i always think thicker beam = more free power but i may have been wrong all these yrs. thanks

People are right to critize the ultra bright paint job, but I think a neutral white overgrip makes it immediately much less of an eye sore.

new pics make the color look even better, reminds me of older radicals. wish it had a black bumper but still awesome. hopefully we will get an 18x20 version exclusive to TW or another site.

In this pic you can see it with the "Tourna blue". Would love to see one in person with a white og.

The comment you are replying to is talking about 3 rackets:
1) Radical MP: light, crisp, muted, powerful, high launch angle
2) Radical Pro: heavier, crisp, muted, powerful (due to SW)
3) GT98: low flex but does not feel too soft and is plush and is very communicative

does Bernard Tomic have a lifetime contract with Head? I managed to catch a video of him playing in Brisbane with his TK260 painted in the Auxetic 2.0 pj. if he's still playing with the TK260, that is.

he has had the most up-to-date Radical PJs since coming back to the tour

I don’t believe he is getting paid. But they supply the frames to the Head sponsored pros that ask. He probably gets a limited number of them though knowing them well, they would never turn a pro, that is asking for more, away…
