It will probably be the night session. I think Djokovic prefers day sessions on clay but in this case, night conditions should help him. Courts are slower and Zverev's serve is less efficient at night. And it's the key in most of Djokovic/Zverev's matches. If Djokovic can put a lot of returns into play, it frustrates Zverev. If Zverev easily holds, it puts more pressure on Djokovic on his serves.

People talk about Djokovic's draw but Zverev's is a joke too. A rookie with zero experience on clay, a qualifier, an injured player and a retirement today. He got to the QF on 1 leg. So it's hard to judge his true level. Reminder that he lost to Muller last year so he is clearly not all that right now.

It depends on which version of German we see.
If he plays with authority, firmly, without fear, he should not have many problems defeating this decadent version of Djokovic, who until now, he has not played against anyone of caliber that has exposed him in his movements and mobility.

No, it depends on whether Zverev comes in firmly, without nerves and ready to finish off his opponent without hesitation.
In the set they played in Australia, which was decided in a tiebreak, Zverev could and should have won much more easily than he did, but, as always, he was passive on the break points in his favor.
A tennis player of his quality shouldn't have many problems against a 38-year-old opponent, regardless of his name.

The hardest quarterfinal to call. I’ll go with Djokovic in 4. Hard to see Zverev not getting insanely tight if he gets anywhere near the finish line. And then Novak will pounce.

This thread is going to get really busy. A showcase match between two of Talk Tennis' biggest lightning rods.

Basically this is a pick 'em match with Djokovic just barely a favourite.
Meanwhile Sinner -4000 to Bublik at +1600
Alcaraz -1200 favourite over Tommy Paul at +700

Djokovic going through the world #3 then the world #1 in the SF and then possibly the world #2 in the Final to win the tournament would be an incredible accomplishment at his age. Not sure he can get through Zverev though on Paris clay if Zverev is at peak level and firing on all cylinders.

That’s the problem for Novak. He hasn’t faced tough competition like this for quite sometime now. The jump up in difficulty is huge in this match. Zverev will like his chances for sure.

As long as the match is reasonably close, Novak should edge him out on the big points.

He’s remarkable for 38. I said before Geneva if he won Geneva and reached quarters here that is some achievement. I feel it bonus territory now. I’m still happy to see him still in the mix making deep runs and staying as fit as he can to fend off father time a bit longer.
