Musetti injured and hopefully not too serious. It sounds like hammy.Wth just happened???

I don't blame him but he sure has a pattern of "giving up".I watched the match, not sure he was injured tbh. Same thing happened vs Nole FO2024, and vs Carlo now. All injuries?
The injury isn't why he lost. Alcaraz stopped donating points then all the effort Musetti put into the first two sets caught up to him towards the end of the 3rd.Musetti i did say at the start was serving bombs. Close to 220kph. That's way bigger than he usually does and I wonder if that caught up with him.
Real shame that . Musetti could have won that match and it may well be that injury came at end of 2nd set hence the hopeless TB
I like the Grifor way to be fairSo true. Especially when you’re a good looking guy with a one-hander. Should have gone the Dimitrov route and focused on driving fast cars in Milan with six Ukrainian supermodels
This is pathetic lol, istg we never saw this much cramping from Ferrer and Tsonga and co back in the day. What is up with this gen of players
Musetti retires. 23 years old and a pro tennis player and can’t physically hang. Gimme a break
He did it.There’s only one thing that Musetti can do to save his honor.
And it would be dishonorable.
It must be body AND MINDUnfortunately, Musetti has become a "find a way to lose" player in the very biggest matches. He doesn't really choke like Zverev; he just ... falters. If it's not his mind, it's his body. Something always fails.

Looks like this is what happened after all.Alcaraz took his legs, he poured a lot into the first two sets. This is what Djokovic and Nadal did to second tier players all the time, just wearing them down deeper into the match.
I mean, even 6-1 or 6-2 looks fine (even 6-0 since we know he's hampered). Honestly. In the context of the clay season he's had, getting beat down by Alcaraz after two very competitive sets wouldn't be shameful at all. He's not at the level of the very top guys; he's just a little below. He's comported himself well at all the big clay events this year. Not a huge fan of the retirement there... felt like he could've gutted that out. Fun first two sets disappointing end.
I'm not sure that's the right conclusion. It's tough for anyone's body to hold up when they are giving max effort every point. It wasn't the long match so much as what he had to output on each point.Alcaraz through! Musetti retires. That sad but his body can’t hold up for long matches.
Yes I think that's a crucial point. That match ended up taking nothing out of himAlcaraz has to be strong favourite for title now.
He ended up going from playing what looked like a really long 4 hour plus match to one that finished about 30 mins after end of 2nd set. He will be as fresh as daisy for final.
If Novak does push Sinner tonight and make it a late finish then have to say advantage Carlos.
I realize it reads as sarcasm, but it wasn’t. I adore Grigor. Realized he probably wasn’t going to have what it takes to win a slam and has probably had one of the best lives in human history living as an international playboyI like the Grifor way to be fair
Bird flu, anthrax, SARS....What a quitter
Midway through the 2nd set, Musetti pulled a hamstring muscle while serving.Wth just happened???
Carlos stopped playing terribly. I guess in a way it was upping his game, but the outcome was inevitable injury or not.Yikes.
One is left to wonder whether Carlos really upped his game or if he was on his way to losing and just got lucky
He should be prepared for that if he thinks about himself as a slam contender. That’s a real shame. Musetti was far too willing to stay behind the baseline and chase everything down in those first two sets - ended up costing him.
Poor as Alcaraz was in patches, he's still a great of the game and such players take the legs of the opps. Alk himself has been on the receiving end on this very court beforeThat’s a real shame. He's the nicest guy u could possibly meet. Very charming and he is very candid privately about his life choices. Fair play to him. You only live once after all. Seriously for some of us 25 grand slams or 1000 gorgeous women is an easy choice.I realize it reads as sarcasm, but it wasn’t. I adore Grigor. Oh man. What a bummer. The match was so great for 2 sets too. I hope it's nothing serious.Musetti injured and hopefully not too serious. It sounds like hammy.
Completely agree - shades of the Djokovic-Alcaraz semi a few years ago where Carlos was teleporting across the court to get every ball back, but clearly expending a lot more energy doing so. First set was a pyrrhic victory for Musetti - won the battle, not the war.Poor as Alcaraz was in patches, he's still a great of the game and such players take the legs of the opps. Alk himself has been on the receiving end on this very court before
I'm wondering about grass actually being his best surface possibly. He actually has great technique on his volleys and can serve big."What a quitter" - people who wouldn't last 1 day putting in the work it took Musetti to get to where he is. He's had a long clay season and it's easy to forget he actually already had an injury from his run in monte carlo, probably didn't fully heal. Not to mention he also has to take into consideration the soon commencing grass court season where he is a top contender when healthy.
Yeah at least no way all those losses were injuries...I don't blame him but he sure has a pattern of "giving up".
Not with that performance.Alcaraz likely would be 7th player in open era to win back to back rg.
Now put up Monica Seles at 19y & 2months!
Alcaraz through! Musetti retires. That sad but his body can’t hold up for long matches.
Alcaraz likely raises level vs sinner. Not with that performance.
He's gonna need to up his game several notches, because that won't cut it against Djokovic or especially Sinner.
Luckily, the safe money bet is that he will.
