Musetti i did say at the start was serving bombs. Close to 220kph. That's way bigger than he usually does and I wonder if that caught up with him.

Real shame that . Musetti could have won that match and it may well be that injury came at end of 2nd set hence the hopeless TB
The injury isn't why he lost. Alcaraz stopped donating points then all the effort Musetti put into the first two sets caught up to him towards the end of the 3rd.

This is pathetic lol, istg we never saw this much cramping from Ferrer and Tsonga and co back in the day. What is up with this gen of players

BioPassport and more advanced anti doping protocols
Musetti retires. 23 years old and a pro tennis player and can’t physically hang. Gimme a break

It's what happens when you're natty and not taking stuff

Not a huge fan of the retirement there... felt like he could've gutted that out. Fun first two sets disappointing end.
I mean, even 6-1 or 6-2 looks fine (even 6-0 since we know he's hampered). Honestly. In the context of the clay season he's had, getting beat down by Alcaraz after two very competitive sets wouldn't be shameful at all. He's not at the level of the very top guys; he's just a little below. He's comported himself well at all the big clay events this year.

Little hamstring tears are the bane of my Existence with how movement-based my game is. It happens too much with him
This is what I was saying a couple of weeks ago. You get your hopes high on Musetti's prospects of winning the match, and it fizzles out like candy floss in the end.

Alcaraz has to be strong favourite for title now.

He ended up going from playing what looked like a really long 4 hour plus match to one that finished about 30 mins after end of 2nd set. He will be as fresh as daisy for final.

If Novak does push Sinner tonight and make it a late finish then have to say advantage Carlos.
Yes I think that's a crucial point. That match ended up taking nothing out of him

Well, it didn't fizzle until midway through the SF of Roland Garros, so he obviously has improved it a bit. He got hurt in his last match vs Carlos as well.

"What a quitter" - people who wouldn't last 1 day putting in the work it took Musetti to get to where he is. He's had a long clay season and it's easy to forget he actually already had an injury from his run in monte carlo, probably didn't fully heal. Not to mention he also has to take into consideration the soon commencing grass court season where he is a top contender when healthy.

I realize it reads as sarcasm, but it wasn’t. I adore Grigor. Realized he probably wasn’t going to have what it takes to win a slam and has probably had one of the best lives in human history living as an international playboy
He's the nicest guy u could possibly meet. Very charming and he is very candid privately about his life choices. Fair play to him. You only live once after all. Seriously for some of us 25 grand slams or 1000 gorgeous women is an easy choice.

Remember in 2021 after Musetti retired against Novak and let it slip in the interview that he wasn’t injured and he was having trouble winning points so he pulled the plug? I remember something like that. Anyways I hope that was not the case today

Poor as Alcaraz was in patches, he's still a great of the game and such players take the legs of the opps. Alk himself has been on the receiving end on this very court before
Completely agree - shades of the Djokovic-Alcaraz semi a few years ago where Carlos was teleporting across the court to get every ball back, but clearly expending a lot more energy doing so. First set was a pyrrhic victory for Musetti - won the battle, not the war.

On the other hand, with the early finish, I can enjoy more of Coretja's and Sarlat's incoherent chin wagging.
Good for me.

I'm wondering about grass actually being his best surface possibly. He actually has great technique on his volleys and can serve big.

rope a dope no longer works with RazSin, tuned Killers
Musetti fitness is only for bo3 like most mugs these days
Even Glass Ninja and Gilles Simon won more bo5 sets
I wonder if he won the 2nd would have he retired then?
