That was a truly biblical 2nd set choke from Draper / clutch job from Alcaraz… Alcaraz served 55 points to Draper’s 22 and still won the set! You run that 100 times and it goes to a 3rd set

Based on last year’s Wimbledon and what I saw today, I’d be concerned about Draper’s mentality, not his tennis, if he faced Alcaraz at Wimbledon this year. He handled the pressure so badly vs Norrie last year, and he was hilariously un-clutch today which might sit in the back of his mind.

That being said he was also looking pretty gassed today so I don’t know how much that played a part on big points. And who knows, maybe Alcaraz ends up like prime Federer where having the crowd on his opponent’s side for once might mess him up

So all those threads about how Carlos is finished and he's now won one Masters, lost in a Final and reached the semis of another Masters?

We should all be so crap.
Yeah, Carlos playing his C game is having a more consistent clay season than anyone else. Not a bad spot to be in, all things considered. Though I hope he can pick the level up come Roland Garros.

You do know you are talking about Nadal RG 2008 yes?

Yes but imo hypotheticals are useless , any player develop tactics , style , game to counter his contemporary rivals , Carlos or any champion would be a different player if generation are changed. Hell even Rafa would be a different player if he started his peak now.

Alcaraz won the 2nd Set 6-0 in their 2025 Indian Wells meeting, and Draper retired in their 2025 AO meeting...
So Draper really isn't man enough for this "rivalry"

Alcaraz doesn't need to pick his level up at Roland Garros at all, he's unbeatable at Roland Garros (and Wimbledon), and has won his last TWELVE 5-setters.
Slams are where 99.9% of the tour wets the bed !!

Who won that IW match though? Carlos ate a breadstick first set, does that mean he's also not man enough by your own logic?

RAZ obv better. No one is debating that, but this comment is kinda silly lol.

Whereas in 2024 Alcaraz lost to Jarry (at Argentina) and Rublev (at Madrid) and won nothing on clay before Roland Garros... and then beat Sinner/Zverev at Roland Garros !!

Yeah but Indian Wells is the BEST version of Draper, literally the highlight of his entire life, and Alcaraz still won the 2nd Set 6-0.
Draper's best, isn't great.

Sometimes Carlos sprays his forehands 5 meters out, even without shanking. Is that bad timing, coming from his very loose grip (+ extreme RHS)?

Draper is running low on fumes. He's going to lose this one
For the first time this season, Alcaraz managed to outclutch his opponent throughout the entirety of a match. Look at the points played on serve, massive difference between the two. Look at the breakpoints that Alca faced, he made a first serve 7/8 times despite struggling with a relatively low 1st serve % throughout the match.

Yes I know and Draper had too much match play and I knew this was gonna happen. I thought it would go 3, but I knew his legs were gonna start feeling it on a physical surface in Rome. That’s why I’m also picking Sinner in 2 to defeat Ruud. Ruud is at a big disadvantage by having his match yesterday coming off the back of a Madrid title.

:-D:-D:-D. Nadal wouldn’t dare lose a set to tiny

quite a few players worse than Alcaraz on clay got a set vs nadal on clay. and this is over 10 matches.

besides going by your logic, Sinner wouldn't win more than 4 games a set as he is clearly worse than Alcaraz on clay?

Isner took Nadal to five at RG 2011..
