2025 Shanghai M1000 Final - Sign of one of the Weakest Era in Tennis’ History?

I mean the humid conditions took down the great Jannik sinner.
To say it’s a weak era where some of the guys who won just survived the humidity and didn’t cramp first.

I don't see why people see two randoms win and cry out "weak era." Vacherknech played phenomenally and Vach had to play more matches as a qualifier in killer weather. It's probable that Djokovic could have won or taken Vach to three sets if the weather didn't destroy his old body but if if if doesn't exist.

Please discuss!
No..just a sign tennis doesnt matter after the USO. Players just dont have the motivation bar ones who had a disappointing year by their standards so have a point to prove. Been that way for 30 years now.

It clearly does. It's a last minute scramble to qualify for the ATP finals.

Say what you will about the top end players, but the rest of the field is getting better every year and that gap between the elite players and the rest is decreasing more and more.... Pretty much everyone except the lumbering giants can move and defend well (within reason) these days....

Kindly point us to a weaker Masters final than the two cousins Valcherot and Rinderkneck.
Will we ever even hear from these cousins again?
Why are you disparaging what I thought was your new fav Valcherot? His future I don’t predict but what more can you want from him than his magical run in Shanghai? Please do not be sour that he pummeled your fav Egg. If Egg wants to stick around you will have to get used to him being pummeled by both established stars and random players. :D

This is my take. I’m not any sort of coach or elevated connoisseur, nor am I subscribed to the “tennis evolution” gospel. I just watch a ton of tennis and have done for over a decade now and these Challenger/qualifiers have never been more competitive or looked better.

This is a Challenger opening round where both guys are regularly hitting 220kph on serve and bombing returns too. Look at the movement and defense on some of the passes too for guys above 6’4”. Struff lost, and he made the 2nd week in Flushing a month ago.

I’d say, historically, the top 2 are pretty good, let’s say average for a top 2 across the past 60 years, the top 50-200 are the best they’ve ever been, but the top 3-15 are easily the worst they’ve ever been.

Wow, Struff in Challengers. Just saw him in the USO Ro16 v Djokovic. Thought he was doing just fine

Guess age catches us all

ATP finals importance can be summed up by Sampras in 1995. As soon as he wrapped up YE1 he didnt care and proceeded to get straight setted indoors on fast carpet to...Michael Chang! That said it all!
Michael Chang was always solid on carpet, he wasn't any ordinary mug on that surface. And besides pete is pete, he was virtually uncontested. Novak, Fed, and Nadal all tried their hardest at the finals because it was a race for them.

Read Rafas book and then judge what he thinks about the WTF. As for Chang...I always respected him but sorry a motivated Pete on carpet wipes the floor with him

That's because the majority of this forum consist of utter morons that have absolutely no clue about Tennis or play themselves ... the mostly are here for as diehard fans for some hero Player or just like to write ******** in Internet forums ... sad, but that is clearly what it is ...
