From what I watched, quite a high quality affair. Townsend was a bit off, some easy volley misses and 2 DF in the last game to get broken.

Absolutely ridiculous that women's singles are still BO3 at the slams. I know it's been said over and over but we should keep saying it. Scheduling issues? Then why do men get to play BO5? At the very least, they could make the semi-finals and finals BO5. That wouldn't even disrupt the schedule. It would be awesome to see Aryna and Amanda battle it out over potentially 5 sets. Pretty sure it would increase the interest and respect people would have for women's tennis.

I only see pressure to reduce the men's to best of 3, so I have a hard time imagining best of 5 for the women in the current environment.

The possibly future WTA stars will be playing their Girls Singles Final tomorrow between Nilsson L (SWE) vs #14 Vandromme J (BEL). Have never heard any of them, but will check out a few games to see the future talents. Vandromme has not lost a set yet with her opponent winning at most 5 games in 2 sets.

There's more ... She's in a 20-match winning streaks - including winning two ITF W15 and a W35. Only lost 2 sets (went to 3rd) in her 20-match winning streaks.

Um, ok, since you insist, I guess the gloves will come off.

You clearly have some issues. Clearly. Just look at what you wrote, and how you wrote it...

So don't talk to someone about an education or reading comprehension when you sorely lack both. Indeed, the problem is that you are so sorely lacking in those areas, as well as logic and reasoning, that you can't even understand why you are embarrassing yourself here.

Get a dictionary and look up "obsessive." Ok?

And then show me the rule where someone must quote an entire post in order to comment on the content of said post. Seriously, are you for real with your nonsense and name calling?
I wouldn't waste your time with that troll. Banned 3 or 4 times since I've been here.
Just put her on ignore.

Of the four remaining finalists, Amanda is clearly the odd 'man' out.
She is the most unexpected of the four to have made it this far.

Yet, as I have mentioned above I think she has an excellent chance
of taking home the trophy later today.

The key for success in my estimation is for her to take to the court with
a fearless frame of mind.
If she can do this and not waiver from it for the entire match I believe
it will be hers for the taking.

I've got a feeling Anisimova might take it. I've seen this plot a few times before, like when Mcllroy had his blowout in the final round of the Masters but won the US Open the very next major.

That 6-3 h2h against Sabalenka is impressive, and Amanda is a better player now than during most of those matches. Sabalenka still the favourite I guess but this is the most lose-able final of the three she's played this year. I thought she'd beat Gauff and Keys. I'm very unsure this time.

But I'm predicting the upset.

So happy to see Gabby Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe with the doubles!! It's inspiring to see Gabby come back after her battle with cancer.
All that plus Siniakova And Townsend have had enough of those trophies for some time. I wasn't aware Dabrowski had cancer and it always feels frightening that someone so young has had it.

Vandromme has totally owned the girls US Open this year. I have heard the name but that's about it! Clearly a player that has lifted her level considerably in a short time. She is winning the final at the moment (5-1 in the 2nd) Even though I'm from neighboring country Nilsson is also a player for me that I have 1 or 2 times seen in some draw, but know nothing about. She looks very un-Swedish, however. More like Pakistani or something like that...

I'm loving @robyrolfo finally discovering the wonder that is THUNDERVOLLEY.
If it wasn't so late I would get some popcorn.
Contrary to assumption of many people here, I'm a kind person. One basis for that claim is that I only have one person on ignored list. There definitely is racism in the World and fighters against it are needed, but that Thundervolley-nick is doing coloured people more harm than good.
I also suggest Roby not to care about that person but simply utilize the ignore-possibility on this forum.

And there it is, Vandromme of Belgium took the girls title in straight sets!
Edit. She is "after suitable rest" also in girls doubles final and have a good chance winning it too. The Kovackova-sisters from Czech republic are a good team, but I have watched part of their matches and they have had bickering with each other, which sure won't help them to win.

I just pray it's a good final and that Anisimova doesn't freeze or Sabalenka doesn't have a meltdown....Don't think I could stand watching a replica of the French Open again where we see some appalling tennis with two players incapable of playing the game.

It's bad enough that they force players to be interviewed right after a match on court and soon after by the media in a conference room.

But cornering them to be interviewed just before the match when they need to be totally focused on the moment, is outright cruel.
The media is selfish and disrespecting of the players!

Brilliant, commanding performance from Aryna Sabalenka to defend her US Open title! The two-time US Open champion leaves 2025 with strength, rather than what could have been a year of heartbreaking losses in matches she certainly had the ability to win...but failed to when it counted most. Sabakenka's victory is undoubtedly a win-win for me and tennis overall, and as mentioned at the end of the 2025 Australian Open, some country club-minded Sabalenka haters on this board (who squeal like trapped rodents more than any noise from a tennis player) were setting themselves up for a rather painful (deserved) fall convincing themselves Sabalenka was somehow "done" at the majors.

As always, here's the updated list of majors winners (not named Serena, because a certain, active Talk Tennis Warehouse member named Scent of Hatred used to wet his diapers saying: "just hand the trophy to Serena" when she was on tour, yet she did not--obviously--win every major) since 2010, and obviously past Williams' era (ending in 2022):

Schiavone: FO - 2010

Clijsters: USO 2010 & AO 2011

Li Na: FO 2011 & AO 2014

Kvitova: Wimbledon 2011 & 2014

Stosur: USO 2011

Sharapova: FO 2012 & FO 2014

Azarenka: AO 2012 & 2013

Bartoli: Wimbledon 2013

Pennetta: USO 2015

Kerber: AO 2016, USO 2016 & Wimbledon 2018

Muguruza: FO 2016 & Wimbledon 2017

Ostapenko: FO 2017

Stephens: USO 2017

Wozniacki: AO 2018

Osaka: USO 2018, 2020 & AO 2019 and 2021

Barty: FO 2019, Wimbledon 2021 & A0 2022

Halep: FO 2018 & Wimbledon 2019

Andreescu: 2019 USO

Kenin: AO 2020

Krejčíková: FO 2021, Wimbledon 2024

Raducanu: USO 2021

Świątek: FO 2020 & 2022, 2023, 2024, USO 2022 & Wimbledon 2025

Rybakina: Wimbledon 2022

Vondroušová: Wimbledon 2023

Gauff: USO 2023, FO 2025
Keys: AO 2025

Sabalenka: AO 2023, 2024 & USO 2024 and USO 2025

A great finale for the women's side of the 2025 US Open!

So happy for Sabalenka. Redemption from the two chokes at the Aus Open and French Open finals.

4x slam champ. The most consistent player at slams. First female to defend the US Open since Serena in 2014.

And it means we don’t have a slamless #1!

This Vandromme girl is quite something. With this win in US Open Junior Girls singles, she's now on a 21-match winning streak with only 2 matches going to 3rd. All this after losing in R1 in Junior Wimbledon, she won 3 ITF titles + the GS Junior title.

I managed to watch a few games of her SF match replay. Very BIG hitter and steady player.

{bolded by me}
I believe she kept it pretty quiet until after she recovered. Not many people knew what she was dealing with. She won the US Open doubles 2 years ago and dealt with her cancer fight since then. And now she is back on the podium.
Pretty strong in my eyes!!

Just a summary from me about Amanda's performance at the U.S. Open.

She should hold her head high with her results.
She has now made back-to-back finals (the last two slams).
How many other players can claim that amazing result? None. Zilch. Zero. Null.

Sab couldn't do it.
Swiatek couldn't do it.
Gauff couldn't do it.

She improved dramatically from her Wimbie result to her U.S. Open result.
She was able to hang with Sab for most of the match.

She is now ranked #4 in the world (her highest ranking ever) ! An astonishing achievement for someone
who has been through all the hardships that she has.

No predictions for her, just respect and appreciation.

wait, what? Just from 2020 on it happened many times:

Sabalenka did it _multiple times_. Consecutive finals:
US Open 2024 - Australia Open 2025 - French Open 2025 (so that is three in a row)
US Open 2023 - Australia Open 2024

Paolini: Fench Open 2024 - Wimbledon 2024

Jabeur: Wimbledon 2022 - US Open 2022

I was referring to those two specific slams. (2025 Wim + U.S. Open)
Not the history of tennis. :)
