Congrats to Sabalenka! Deserved that win.
I don’t think that would be enough to dethrone her from YE#1.Saba now solidifies her as the best player on the WTA...unless one of the other slam winners wins the YEC I guess
Sort of the curious thing with sabalenka, it’s the strange combination of total muggery and then total clutchness. You never know what you’re gonna get in any given game. You’d think I’d learn my lesson at some point but no. Regardless congrats to her for winning. Thank god90% of the predictions made during this thread was wrong.
I'd still say Saba is better since her Slam performances overall are much better collectively than Iga, Keys, and Coco. Iga would be closest.Saba now solidifies her as the best player on the WTA...unless one of the other slam winners wins the YEC I guess
I highly doubt that. She may need one more "practice-final", but 4th or 5th time she will make it and very probably that won't be her only one...I just hope Anisimova won't go the path of Dementieva, Safina and Zvonareva.
This match won't be remembered like the Wimbledon final. There's nothing historic about a routine, straight-set women's slam final in which the winner was pretty solid and the loser was very hit-and-miss. And Anisimova can at least be pleased about her mini-comeback at the end of the second set. She managed to force a tiebreaker. But I think she knows that, despite not being embarrassingly double-bageled this time, she again played poorly in a slam final. After all, what was the key difference in this match? Was it that Sabalenka was clearly a level above Anisimova in terms of power or skill? No -- the difference was that Anisimova was much sloppier in execution. Too many UEs, too many DFs, too many mental lapses that lasted for games at a time. So I think that Anisimova may have a sour memory of this match even as the world largely forgets it.Much better than last time anyway, Manda. Keep going.
Not likely but it's the second biggest title that can act as a tiebreaker in terms of trophies. Had she lost this final but remained as #1 then one of the slam winners would have been seen as the "true" #1 over herI don’t think that would be enough to dethrone her from YE#1.

She played much better than last time and next time with even more experience will be better still. The slam win will happen soon IMO. Many greats lost or almost lost their first 3 or 4 slam finals.Well played, Sabalenkoids.
Sadly, Annie Simova has the game to win a major, but not the mental fortitude.
she doesn't have the game yet either, not enough diversity, and needs to be as dangerous on serve as her groundstrokes...and she needs to get even more fitWell played, Sabalenkoids.

Where is PDJ when his Goddess is in spotlight?FIFTY YEARS, CHRISSIE! GOD DAMN!
It is really sweet to see Sabalenka talk to Amanda directly. Talk about one of the few who knows how she feels, lol
Mary Carillo should literally be banned from professional tennis. "The host"??? Wouldn't even let the US Open finalist give her goddarn speech... Absolutely disgraceful.
ESPN must have a college football game to switch to.Ah, she did it again! Tried to cut off the US Open champion too. Is this a prank or something? Never seen anything like this.
"She said she was speechless" Wow. Is this woman on the spectrum or something? She has zero filter.
It’s ****ing insane. I hate the ****ing mentions of the $ amount too, as if the players care about the money more than the trophy"She said she was speechless" Wow. Is this woman on the spectrum or something? She has zero filter.
That's it, Anisimova was once again a bundle of nerves in a GS final. Both are known to choke in big matches. Who keeps the nerve better this time
