I am kind with you on this.

If Pegula gets to the final, I have to back her, she lost the final last year.

I like Osaka's game when she is on the most though out of all the girls playing here, and her winning this would be great for the sport, and her return to the top. If its Amanda, I'll cheer her if Pegula is not in the final.
Yea she played so well last summer but came up short here. Would love to see her come back and get this Slam tbh. Pegula needs this Slam more than Osaka. Being over 30, chances to win a Slam don't come around often for most players. It's just good to have Osaka deep in a Slam again and I think this can propel her back as a contender for these hardcourt Slams.

Yes, every sport gets huge respect if a debile person can be a champion in it - OMFG. :censored: But in a country where 60 lies a minute criminal also with "intellectual constraint" can be a president supported perhaps even by over half a population, then I guess sport winners like that are "great". Yikes.:((n)

I always felt she was rightful heir to Serena's throne, but we all know that mentally they were almost opposite.

If she can pick up and focus on what needs to be done, there is still time to salvage an ATG career here.

I'm talking about her playing ability here, the draw would be that much more interesting if a confident well playing Osaka is in the mix. The more talent at the top, the more enticing the final stages of the slams become.

Yea I did too. She'll be 28 soon so not that young anymore but not too late to win a couple more Slams if she can stay on this track. Looks like Pegula has her work cut out for her here. Sabalenka has stepped it up.

Gotta love Sabalenka's massive hitch in her serve. How did this woman stay at no 1 without winning a slam?!
And no touch game. WOOHOO!!!!

Sabalenka ROARS!

She beats Pegula 4-6 6-3 6-4 to make the US Open once again.

Her 3rd slam final of 2025 after losing both the Aus Open and French Open finals.

That is 6 consecutive hard court slam finals for Sabalenka.

Insanely consistent.

2023 Aus Open champ
2023 US Open runner up
2024 Aus Open champ
2024 US Open champ
2025 Aus Open runner up
2025 US Open ***

Also had the 2025 French Open runner up too.

4-6, 6-3, 6-4 - Aryna Sabalenka takes it.....came up big enough when it counted to close it out. Well done, and she'll be a tough out come Saturday.

Good fight from Jessica Pegula - just not quite good enough tonight - had some openings, though.

Very good match. High quality. Have to hand it to Aryna for keeping it together on those break points against her. Would love to see Pegula win a major but the clock is ticking as she is 31.

Pegula lost that match due to a power deficit. She played well, but had to win her points on Sabalenka's errors or by playing smart, well-constructed points that usually required a series of very good shots from her. In contrast, Sabs was often able to take control of a point with just one hard shot -- from anywhere on the court! She could hit a winner, or set up a winner, even from well behind the baseline. Her instant power provided just enough of an edge in the end.

i guess her dad will just have to go sail to Monte Carlo and park his yacht there... Poor guy,,, no celebration party on that beauty

Excellent form and focus from Sabalenka, and she soars into another US Open final. Well deserved. I expected Pegula to pour everything into the 1st set, and she did--but that was all she had to offer. After that, Sabalenka adjusted to Pegula as the latter did not have much to offer. Again, excellent form and focus from Sabalenka!

I had to stop watching after the first set. Can anyone summarize the last two sets, level-wise? Sabalenka locked in or Jess choked?

Was the Sabalenka match Cliff Drysdale's last? I thought he had indicated earlier that the tournament would be his last, but this is him signing off right now? I always enjoyed him.

Consummate gentleman and definitely knows the game. Now, on occasion I would get on his case when he overdid the pronunciations, haha.

Well done, and happy retirement Mr. Cliff Driezz-dale. 8-B

Yeah this. When Sabalenka pulls the trigger, in many cases it really pulled Pegula off the court, ready for easy finish by Sabalenka.

Tennis scoring.

In the 3rd set Jessie was broken at 30 in the very first game.
Then she held at love all 4 other service games.

So she lost 4 points on serve ... and lost the set 6-4.
