she has won two of three against Sabs

Absolutely no slur intended. Just wondering what I'd do if I had spent a great deal of corporate money investing in return by ER's promotion of my products as she continues to lose star power. Star? More like a comet, dazzling for a few minutes and then a dust trail.
Let's face it, FOUR 1st-round exits after getting to R3 in the USO...
I couldn't care less about her finances, I'm thinking of the corporations who sank money into hopes of better performance from ER.

That's the risk you take with any player. Nothing is guaranteed. It's possible some of her deals were performance-dependant but I doubt it (not to a painful degree for Emma anyway). She was dealing from a position of strength in 2021 and 2022 and everyone was keen to grab a piece of the action. That's showbiz.

Has it helped her game? No. But she is wealthy. I think she was still earning more than Swiatek until either 2023 or 2024, which is just ridiculous.

Nothing. This Roby guy is a bit weird.
I may be a bit weird, but I have no idea why you aren't permanently banned from this forum, so...

Give it a rest, Emma’s endorsements aren’t your concern, it’s nothing but jealousy because their fav will never marketable no matter how much they win.

Nobody was concerned about Madison Keys’ attention before and thought she would lose easily to Sab at the AO based on her poor performance in USO 2017 final.
I could also say that my opinions aren't your concern, right? See how that works? And jealousy? Don't make me laugh. I'm sure there are tons of fans out there that would rather by supporting a rich, flakey player that never actually wins. So much fun!

And you second sentence is just unintelligible.

bad loss for Gauff, but I like Kostyuk
just when you think Coco has got her serve and forehand together and will be a consistent threat in all big tournaments she does this....strange career in many respects
I think it was only a few casual observers, Brad Gilbert haters, and rose colored glasses wearers that really thought that. Gauff still is, and always will be, a very good athlete that happens to play tennis, but doesn't have a high amount of natural tennis talent. She can't hold a candle to the Williams sisters, or any of the other past greats people are desperate to associate her with.

Vukov to remain banned by the WTA following the investigation. Bad news for Rybakina.
Can someone explain to me what exactly he is accused of (or found responsible for)? Is it some sort of relationship with Rybakina?

In typical Elena fashion, she makes things real difficult to finally take the opener in a breaker.

First to JPeg over DasKa. Amazing what happens when you’re not playing a shady Kudermetova.

Boo Hoo! Jealous that your fave can’t earn the same money despite winning. ER endorsements are none of your concern unless the money is coming from your pocket.

What is your deal? Nobody is jealous of anything. Likewise, the endorsement money doesn't come out of my pocket, not does it go into your pocket. So why can't we talk about it?

SI:

Marta Kostyuk handily defeated Coco Gauff in straight sets: 6-2, 7-5. Kostyuk started strong, putting Gauff under pressure with her deep groundstrokes and smart court coverage.

The American, known for her speed and defensive skills, struggled to find her rhythm against Kostyuk’s relentless pace. Kostyuk’s ability to convert break points (5/9) and serve at a high level (66% on first serve and 75% on second serves) ultimately made the difference.

Meanwhile, Gauff double-faulted seven times, going 59% on first serves and 50% on second serves. Gauff was 2/3 on break points. Gauff jumped out a 4-2 lead in the second set, before eventually unraveling against Kostyuk.

This win is a significant milestone for Kostyuk, who has been steadily rising in the rankings and proving herself as a serious contender on the WTA tour. The Ukrainian tennis star is the World No. 21 and continues to take down top-ten players.

Kostyuk has now picked up nine wins against players ranked in the top ten, with this being her first win against a top-ten player in 2025. It is her first win against Gauff after three losses (including two last year).

After the match Kostyuk said, "Coco is an incredible fighter. We always have incredible matches. If you haven’t seen our matches, go on YouTube and watch it."

Meanwhile, this is one of the worst losses Gauff has had since last Summer's US Open. She finished 2024 extremely strong and then advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2025 Australian Open last month.

Kostyuk will face the winner of Magda Linette and Magdalena Frech in the Round of 16. If she can win there, Kostyuk is looking at a potential matchup against Paula Badosa or Leylah Fernandez in the quarterfinals.

.
I had high hopes for Kostyuk but she seems to be another streaky player. If she doesn't win a title this year she will be one of the also played players.

This has been a bummer of a tournament in terms of being a showcase for the top players. Seeds dropped like flies early.

QF's
Alexandrova v (6) Pegula
Kostyuk v Anisimova
Jabeur v Ostapenko
(5) Rybakina v (2) Swiatek

Not very becoming of a WTA 1000 event but least we get that Rybakina-Swiatek matchup. Looks very much like Swiatek is going for 4 in a row in Doha.

Rybakina double faults down match point

Iga through to the semis as she consolidates her newfound momentum against Elena...4-4 head to head now

her buddy Ostapenko, or Ons next

Doesn't seem right having the two best players left in the draw facing each other in the quarters. Just shows how inconsistent Rybakina is. Unofficially I still rate her as the 3rd best player in the world.

Fully expecting Swiatek to sort out her issues with Ostapenko tomorrow.

Those 8 players are no slouches. Three slam champions, two other slam runner-ups in a combined 4 slam finals, and Kostyuk, Anisimova, and Alexandrova are all dangerous players.

Swiatek is due for a win over Ostapenko, but when Ostapenko gets hot, she can beat anyone.
