Did you honestly think novak was out of it? I ess posting confident that Novak would still take this match. Mugsetti really needs to work on staying healthy. 25 years old body breaking down in front of a guy who’s close to 40 lol.
Must be an Italian thing.
Did he get the sinner treatment?

It's a sporting tragedy for Musetti. I only saw the second set of the match, but on the court it was clear that Lorenzo had more of the game, his shots had good power, accuracy, and placement. Nole didn't impress me with his performance today and I expect him to lose to Sinner on Friday. Sinner will become the first player to have 2 wins at AO over Djoker.

When happened? I fell asleep when Musetti was up two sets and he retires shortly after? Dimitrov at Wimbledon vibes.

I gotta say, this AO has been one of the worst slams I've seen in a long time. No classic matches, no upsets even close to happening, no real drama on both the men's and women's side. Hopefully the semis and finals bring it because it's been a giant snoozefest thus far.

Well, bad luck in a sense for Musetti but when things repeat so often it's more than just bad luck. I feel for the guy but I think being his fan is asking a lot.
His body still can’t last one best-of-five match against a top-five player, even after all these years. Fell apart against Alcaraz at the French last year too after being a set apiece. He has got to figure his fitness out. This was such a joke of a score to wake up to.

Well did the real Mugsetti showed up or the fixing continues. Leading by 2 sets and retiring, must have made a boatload or money or the ATP promised him a Wimbledon or French?

Nice camera work

We should enjoy Novak presence when he is playing , he will probably retire at the end of this year or AO 2027 at the latest.
Musseti unfortunately crumbled as usual.

The key takeaways from this, now having watched it.

1. Musetti was playing incredibly well after those first two games. It is tough to know if this is truly him reaching his peak, or he was just having a very lucky day. He's played really well in this tournament after the terrible first round, but some of those passes that were dropping in, and the lines he was painting was crazy to watch. Talk about peaking at the right time. This guy needs to hire Jez Green and sort his body out, because he cannot waste this next year or two.

2. Djokovic conceding that point at the end of the second was also huge. Impressive, commendable, and who really knows how that set might have gone if he had not. Do you trust Musetti to serve it out for a two set lead after Novak presumably holds in that game?

Bizarre match.

Shame on him, should be excluded from the 1hbh club for sheer fragility.
Heh, heh, nah man. Dude's gorgeous shbh is a rare gem -should be forgiven everything!

Fate and Destiny have thrown a spanner in the works, colluding to play this cruel trick upon Musetti. So many outcomes denied including: to beat Novak in straights / to get to another GS semi / to have the chance to compete for the title etc. Pity LM had to end his quest this way. Injury can befall anyone, remarkable these dudes keep trying to improve and to compete as well as they can.

As for Novak, Fate and Destiny vie for his attention, whilst Luck holds his hand. Yet again, a fast closing door opens wide, keeping him in contention. One man's loss, another's gain. If anyone can make capital out of this chance, Novak can. I anticipate a loss to Jannik in straights, but would not be surprised iif Novak made a match of it. Let's see.

He is not yet his best in five set matches - at least I don't think so. If there are fitness issues and there could be then yes hiring someone to target those areas is a good idea. Don't forget he is still young and developing. And yes, some players develop faster than others. Also the heat in OZ has been unbearable so it could also be a factor - I don't know. I do know I feel badly for him as he would have earned another important milestone, although I don't think he can yet beat Sinner or Alcaraz.

I agree with you.

Haha same here - I fell asleep after the 2nd set reconciling that I would wake up to see Musetti winning the third 6-2 and thus the match. Shocked to see the outcome but slightly happy as a Djoko fan. I do feel Djoko will get blown away by Sinner if it is a day match especially. It is odd how things are working in Djoko's favour too. If he could prolong it against Sinner, we could just see Sinner cramping etc with the "luck" that he has had.
In any case, I was thoroughly impressed with Musetti. I do see him being part of the Big 3 than anyone else currently.

If Djokovic, who was being routined by Musetti, shows up with any semblance of that game, he's going to be trounced by Sinner. I guess we'll see who shows up. I'm betting on a straight set Sinner victory.

It's a two man tour and has been for two years. You have two all time greats and a bunch of bums.
