"One of the greatest players of his generation. Unquestionably one of the most complete of all time. There are so many shades of the many who've come before him. It's like he's a homage to the past. Like the guy whose name this stadium was named after."

Lovely bit of commentary there. Deserving glaze.

Carlos Alcaraz is into his first ever Australian Open SF.

Finishes strong against home favourite and #6 De Minaur.

He faces #3 Zverev for a spot in the final.

Who said that? Let me guess….JMac?

The first set was decisive for the development of the match, a break at 6:5 for Carlos took the wind out of Alex's sails. It is very difficult to beat Carlos when he is in positive tuning. Alex played hard for his game conditions, but it is simply not enough for Carlos' level.

Alcaraz’s 2025 USO vs 2026 AO; first 5 matches

2025 USO
% of games won: 92-46, 66.7%
Aces: 41
Double faults: 12
Aces/DF ratio: 3.42

2026 AO
% of games won: 95-52, 64.6%
Aces: 30
Double faults: 8
Aces/DF ratio: 3.75

Alcaraz isn’t all that far off from his 2025 USO performance. And honestly, I couldn’t be happier. His 2025 USO performance was one of the best runs of all time on hard courts. The fact that he’s nearly on pace at this tourney, historically his worst one of the 4 slam events, speaks volumes about his improvement.

I hope that we get a Sinner vs Alcaraz final. We need to see how Alcaraz’s worst slam event stacks up vs Sinner’s best. I have a feeling that Alcaraz has passed up Sinner here too.

And even worse, to me it seems Carlos level is well below USO level. USO is the most scary Raz ive ever seen.
Agreed about his USO level but I honestly don't think his AO level thus far is much below that if at all tbh. The 1st serve isn't as deadly as it was at the USO but he seems pretty lazer focused against this tournament with virtually no dips.
Zverev with the way he's serving will be a true test for him especially if it's an indoors match.

Yes, I - Carlitos! We're jammin, man. Making the first sf in Aussie, dude's CV embelished yet again. Didn't need the 'A'game to effectively suffocate ADM's endeavours. Tip my hat to ADM for trying to make inroads and giving it all he could. Must be hard to know he was out of his opponents league today.

Yah, man, yah. Resonates with me, dude is a composite of some of the best players, yet unique.

Like the best players we've seen in the game, Alcaraz has that ability to raise his level when needed.
It's like he is barely paying attention until it's required to step up. Lovely arrogance.
Heh, heh, enjoyed your observation. The ability you point to is a deadly aspect of his game, for example during the FO final 2025.

The sf should be well contested, anticipating a battle.

Ouch, what a beatdown for Alex! Just 7 games!!

H2H now stands at 6-0 to Alcaraz. He has shown the gulf that still separates Alex and other below him from the reality of facing Sincaraz in a Slam!!!

on the whole tournament? yeah. today, it was not so great
Anyone that thinks Carlos didn't play well today doesn't know tennis. He has gotten better each match the whole tournament. Again, casual fans think if Carlos doesn't win every point it is a "scratchy" performance. It's never pretty enough for the haters and casual fans. Carlos and his coaches know this was great performance going into the semis.

Alcaraz and Zverev now booked in for the semis.

Who will make up the foursome, Sinner, Djokovic, Musetti or Shelton?

Alcaraz is looking extremely tough. His B-game completely destroyed de Minaur. Alcaraz has shown that his hard court game has jumped 2 levels since 2024. He’s picked up from where her left off at the 2025 USO. This is some amazing stuff and I love to see it. 2 more matches, Carlos! Let’s do this!
Is also nice to see in light of the coaching change. Some people were questioning the timing of the change and whether it would be beneficial and Carlos would be focused and ready for the AO. I guess he's answered that question.

This is high on my upset radar, regardless of their previous history. Carlos doesn’t like playing indoors or at night, isn’t used to the crowd being solidly against him, and Alex has been playing better with each round.

I’m not saying Carlos isn’t the favorite, but it’s a closer match up here than it would be anywhere else in the world.
Your upset radar is malfunctioning. It wasn’t indoors, he doesn’t mind night matches and the crowd may favour their home boy but Carlos is popular anywhere he goes.
The match wasn’t close and demon is now 0-6 in the H2H
