Couldn´t watch - what happened? For me a total surprise. Stats indicate that Sinner served OKish (26 aces, only 2 DFs, 75% 1st serves in) but was too inefficient - only 2/18 break points converted is plain horrible, in contrast Djoko made 3/8. Please enlighten me! Thx.

Embarrassing loss for Sinner. Grandpa Novak now has his number and it's going to be a tough battle for Jannik to recover from this and regain his former aura.
Sinner had no real aura. He can beat up mugs very consistently but he cannot compete with real champions. Raz had his number and even Djoko on his last leg, if not completely spent, can rival him.

Meh it just seems to me that Novak is a better player in their primes after watching this match.

I didn't expect this victory. Not after the poor performance against Musetti. Nole's game worked today, except for the weak opening 10 minutes. Nole has an incredible fighting spirit, his mental toughness and courage at key points in the match helped him defeat Sinner, Jannik was sometimes frustrated by how much Nole resisted him.

I thought that Nole would not be able to win the 25th GS title, that he was old and Sincaraz was too strong to let the old veteran win. But this veteran in the Sincaraz era won the Olympic gold medal at the expense of one of them and today he succeeded again against expectations. So who knows what will happen on Sunday...

What a couple of semi final matches.
I watched them both right through on Replay!

Amazing drama!

I expect there was lots of hand wringing in many of the posts above:)

Novak amazing!

Wow, did not see this coming! What an amazing win for a legend. Novak turned back the hands of time. He came in rested, not playing his best, but he played this match to perfection. What a wise old goat!

Sinner had his chances, but Novak just wouldn’t let him win. Greater mental toughness triumphs again.

It should be a classic on Sunday.

Looking at the match stats, I believe that the guy with Sinner’s numbers wins the match in 99.9% of the cases,

Yes - and Alcaraz only has himself to blame for this. If you can't be conditioned at your prime in 22 yrs, you will never have great endurance.
could you imagine what we would have seen if Sinner played the day match?...they could have pumped a jug of pickle juice into him by IV and he wouldn't have won the match...maybe not even finished it

at least give Carlos credit...I thought his cramping days were over but he handled it better than he did those times against Djokovic...seemed like they had a plan for it if it ever came up again....especially his relaxed attitude, don't panic

what am I missing on Sinner?

I keep hearing how's he's this monster hitter of the ball, both wings...yet he got outhit by Nole and at times he still looks like a skinny guy who's still not the beast people make him out to be...obviously against Carlos too

He is a beast of a player, no doubt. Sinner was playing at his usual level, from my observation. Novak just gave a performance I haven't seen from him in a long, long time.

Sad I didn't stay up to watch. I just couldn't after watching the end of Alcaraz-Zverev. I was surprised looking at the scores this morning. Needless to say, Djokovic took that opportunity from the Musetti retirement and ran with it. He looked so average against Musetti, so game plan and execution-wise he must have really gotten it together.

stunning transformation

or maybe not with him, huh?

I couldn’t watch. How’d Eggramps win it?

Is Eggramps the third man tennis has been looking for to challenge Sinneraz over the course of their careers?

It's not just cramps. He is really injured in his adductor. Most commentators are saying that his movement would be severely restricted in the final. He may even not finish the match.

Novak you Legend !
Thank the journalist who interviewed you about "chasing Sinner and Alcaraz"
This ignited the FIRE within you !!!
