cobolli looks like a decent guy but i seriously struggle to find some appeal in his game... looks like a relentless soporific FH-drilling/grunting machine to me: is there anything wrong with me, folks?
he would make berasategui look like a creative artist...
(i mean... of course there's something wrong with me...... but i mean more specifically with my perception of cobolli here)
His FH improved miles in the 4th set.. nothing wrong with it..he is more than decent at everything and is a good one between the ears..

Yeah, Zverev vs Berrettini would be the only pretty much decent final.

Cobolli beat Zverev in Munich in April, so he could give him a run for his money.

Mind you, Zverev battered him in Madrid in the very next tournament, and beat him in straight sets here last year, so it wouldn't be likely.

Yeah its hard to believe Felix is ranked so high, really just a non-slam player.
The ranking system needs an overhaul to stop rewarding these pretenders.
99% of the world's population has never heard of the non-slam events anyway.
Yeah, so why not eliminate these tournaments so only Australia, France, the UK, and the USA get tournaments? Oh, wait, no one cares about the thoughts of 99% of the world's population on tennis. Only tennis fans need to care.

Wow, Venus is a great commentator. Wozniacki, Stephens, and her really bring in the class to that booth.

Cobolli and Mensik are both inconsistent, but they're also both upset artists with extremely high max potential.

Basically not what big Z wanted on his big night.

He wanted some familiar gatekeeper he's trounced 10 times en route to being trounced by Sinner... But without the Sinner.

Another heartbreak brewing?

Matteo breaks Matteo right off the bat. (Sorry couldn’t resist)

Arnaldi doesn’t look up for this yet, he is looking a little shellshocked. He had to move heaven and earth to beat Foe last round, understandably might be a bit zapped at the moment.

Arnaldi has surely got wayyyyyyyyyy too many miles on the clock to put up much fight to big brother. Will be amazed if he can win a set, but the same was sort of true in the last round also.

What a story this might end up being for Berrettini if he does get to the Final. From derided and mocked as the harbinger of the inflation era with “Berrettini Open” becoming a famous descriptor to somehow making Slam SFs on all surfaces and outgunning the rest of his generation. The one 90s born player I have respect for.

That at best sounds as a potential third round match.
Coming into the tournament, I would have said the same thing. But we have to play the cards that have been dealt since then. I'd rather see a couple of up-and-comers battle it out than two never-quite-got-across-the-finish-line warhorses.

if someone told me 2 weeks back there would be an Italian in the Roland Garros Men's singles final and it would be someone not named Sinner or Musetti, I would not have believed it LOL
And it certainly adds to the absurdity that there are THREE different possibilities.

Nah.

1) Two never-quite-got-across-the-finish-line warhorses
2=) A couple of up-and-comers
2=) A pair of aging ATGs rolling back the years one last time
4) A couple of ATGs at the height of their powers

Not only is he getting more powerful, he's doing it faster now too.

I have no idea how Paris became one of the world's top tourist destinations. It has some of the lousiest weather on the planet.
The locals seem to spend every holiday escaping to London.

This is a very contrarian hierarchy! Mine would be the exact opposite.
