HOW can Arnaldi run like this after all his record long marathon matches??? He is like an elite cyclist. Have we seen anything like this lately?

:-D:-D:-D:oops:

This is a very contrarian hierarchy! Mine would be the exact opposite.

Which do you prefer of:

Two aging second tier players who never quite got over the line but might do so once (Zverev and Berrettini) and two players who never got over the line and are unlikely to do so more than once or twice and are neither youngster breaking through nor aging players at the last chance saloon but middle-aged second tier players (Cilic and Nishikori)?

Arnaldi wants to beat the match duration record today. He needs more training time to get better for the semifinals and finals.
Cerundolito-Landaluce 6 hours record is in danger.

Matteo cannot hit through these conditions, and Matteo is giving him hell on account of it.
I wonder if Matteo is going to run out of steam at some point and just hit a wall like his compatriot did in R2, which will allow Matteo to run with it

Beautiful lob by the non-dinker Matteo

Seems likely with the way this is going right now. His serve is returnable in these conditions, his forehand is off (got to be close 15UE in the set so far) and he hates the long rallies.

This match is so over. But I expected this to happen the other way...

Hope the big fella is okay anyway. A loss is fine, another effing injury is not.

I think Berrettini will win the upcoming match, and I hope he does. But it would be hilarious if he didn't. Arnaldi v Cobolli would be quite the low-profile semi-final. A flashback to Corretja v Mantilla in 1998.

And what's wrong with low-profile? It's nice sometimes to have a match that doesn't seem bogged down by the weight of historical achievements.

Let the players play!

I think Arnaldi/Cobolli would be a much more fun match too, health allowing.
