Wow, what a forehand to finish. Comprehensive performance from Zverev. And a great tournament for Jodar too – he ran out of steam in the end, but he showed why he's deserving of the hype.

Now we just need Forehandseca to beat the snot out of that patty-cake moonball of Zverev's.

Damn what a way to finish. Nice running forehand down the line. That was a strong performance from Zverev after a slow start. Jodar ran out of gas but should be proud of his tournament.
Yeah, last time I checked the score, it was 5 all, first set and I thought, this could be a long match. Good that Sasha got it done so quickly since then!

Yea I had to go to a meeting and the stream I was watching went out. It was 5-2 then. Not sure how Zverev pulled out that aet because Jodar was outplaying him in the beginning. He's a but fortunate to get it done in straight sets.

That was a comprehensive beatdown. Zverev is probably playing the best tennis of his life. He fixed his double fault yips and is serving better than he ever has. His FH is still rather meh. But that shot has improved as well.

We will see if his nerves hold up. He had a draw like this at the 2020 USO.

Hopefully, Fonseca will win so that he can face Zverev in the semis. Fonseca can bomb serves in the high-130s and he would destroy Zverev in the FH-to-FH exchanges. That would be the match of the tournament.

If the stats I am reading are correct, Z won 19 of 26 points at the net (73%). I can't believe Z went to the net 26 times in 3 sets. That is why is doubt it.

I guess so. I think it’s because Zed is more experienced especially in big matches so that must have favoured him. Jodar is still novice.

Pleasing to the eye:

Chainz will stuff the resurgent Fonzie hype back in the bottle.

From the highlights—it seems Zed covered the court well or better.

How tall is Jodar? I am too lazy to check.

Zverev was never actually found guilty in a court of law for abuse, he was only found guilty by social media aka Reddit and Twitter, though he did pay out but that itself isn't an admission of guilt (though we can draw our own conclusions).

I still have faith in the judicial system despite it's own flaws because the alternative isn't worth thinking of. Does this mean I condone domestic violence? Nope, does this mean Zverev doesn't have a temper? No.

Back to tennis and Zverev is too solid and Jodar is wilting sadly.
Jimmy Savile never stood trail or faced criminal charges either

I always found Germans to have good accents when speaking English, and usually speak it pretty well.

Jodar was gassed I believe. Those long matches caught up with him.
But still, Zed is the bigger player with a ton of experience behind him. I still see him coming through against a fresh Jodar—maybe more competitive but still see a win. Though, one never knows for sure!

...unfortunately rapha appeared far below expectations...O.K...next year boy...
I wonder whose expectations.

¤¤ Alex Corretja: "You can't ask or demand a Roland Garros semi-final from Jodar”
…
MARCA’s question: “Is it unrealistic to put Jódar as the fourth favorite at Roland Garros?”
Alex Corretja: “
I only wish Jódar that he stays physically fit, that he can handle five-set matches, that he continues to learn and develop. I wouldn't put any extra pressure on him or raise expectations beyond what's reasonable. I think that, right now, there are players who, based on experience, should be considered ahead of him. I have the utmost enthusiasm for Jódar, but also a great deal of caution. Because he's never competed in a five-set match at Roland Garros. We have to take it one step at a time. We can't ask or demand that he's ready to reach the semifinals. If he does, he's spectacular. If not, it's not the end of the world, because he's going to bring us a lot of joy, and he's a guy who will be among the top 10 in the coming months.” ¤¤

Vamas Rafael Jodar!

Yea I didn't think Jodar could keep up that level in the beginning for the whole match even if he was fresher. Zverev really used his experience and once he got his teeth in the match, he didn't let up on Jodar.

The frogs got sick of seeing Spanishes win RG so they decided to close the roof , proud of Rafa though , this kid is quite amazing..Sinner and Alcaraz are in trouble.
