This is the first Grand Slam final for both female tennis players and their first meeting on the WTA Tour. Mirra is a TOP 10 tennis player and holder of 5 WTA titles, while Maja is enjoying the best run of her career, having never been in a WTA tournament final before and her highest position in the WTA rankings was 113th place.
What to expect from the final? Mirracle (Andreeva) is undoubtedly the favorite in the final, but Maya the Bee (Chwalinska) will probably be an unpredictable and difficult opponent. We will know the result of this clash on Saturday afternoon CET!

I think Mirra has enough experience at this point to play with a level head and win in 2, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Maja wins in three. Please let it just be a good match! And thank you, tennis gods, for sparing us from having to watch with the sound turned down. No grunters for the win!
 
I think Mirra will have all the expectation as the major favourite (a problem I'm not as sure she had today after the Madrid final), but she shouldn't. She will surely be back again, but who knows what Chwalinska's future holds.

I still think Andreeva will win, but the one reason I feel like she might not is that Roland Garros has this tradition after the championship match of playing the national anthem of the winner, and they are obviously not going to do that for Andreeva, and I can't see them pulling an Olympics and playing Tchaikovsky. For whatever reason, I have a hard time seeing them break with their tradition and just not doing it, which leads me to believe fate might spare them the awkwardness, and just allow them to reuse the flag and anthem that they have been using a lot lately.

I hope so anyway. As I said, Mirra will be back here plenty. Maja's tennis has been spectacular. I feel like (and we should probably quit saying this at this tournament at this point, but) the Pole might be on her last legs though.
 
Crazy that Chwalinska, even if she wins RG will still likely have to qualify for Wimbledon unless she's handed a wild card. Wimbledon draw of players already made and RG points wont be counted towards it.
 
For some reason I think Andreeva will have a complete meltdown and lose in 2. But it all also depends on Chwalinska‘s body. She might be very tired by that point.

I mean, she uses the moonball brilliantly. She also uses numerous other shots brilliantly. You cannot compare someone like her, or Radwanska, or Hsieh, to people like Wozniacki, Svitolina, Gauff when she's at her worst. That's just offensive.

What's even more crazy is that if she somehow gets a wild card to play wimby, the draw is based on post RG ranking and she'd be a seeded player with a wild card.

Andreeva fully knows the gravity of the situation. She knows what it does to her and Conchita would have drilled her on it. Lucky girl Andreeva, she will not get a better chance than this. A qualifier on a lightning run, but tired.

I agree, watched the highlights and to sum up Maja in one word is crafty.
 
If Mirra watches LeBron highlights pre match (as she has previously referenced doing), Mirra in 2.

If Mirra watches 2011 LeBron highlights, Maja (who has a striking resemblance to JJ Barea) in 2.

This doesn’t go 3 imo.
 
I wouldn’t mind seeing either of them win. I haven’t seen Maja but seen enough of Mirra to know she can have a Sabalenka-esque meltdown.

This is an interesting situation. Regardless of today's result, Maja will be in the TOP 30, which is the position for the seed list. It is a loophole in the rules, if she has to rely on a WC from the Wimbledon organizers.
 
Commies just pointed out that Andreeva would be the first teen RG champion since Seles in 1992, which is quite something considering that teens had at that point won the most recent six RG titles: Graf 87, Graf 88, Sanchez-Vicario 89, Seles 90, Seles 91, Seles 92.

Of course, the undisputed moral victor of RG 93 was also a teen, so this is just us still working the last Gunther Parche-related kinks out of the history of women's tennis.

The crowd will be on Maja's side I think and Andreeva will need maturity to navigate a potential hostile crowd, she did have a meltdown at Indian Wells and told the crowd to "F off".
