Think it’s pretty obvious that the winner of this match will win in the final. Unless Berrettini turns into 2008 Nadal.

If Mensik can play like he did today, this could be a barnburner.

But realistically I don't expect that. Especially if the match is played with the roof open. And even though he won in straights today, he showed worrying signs of the physical toll this run has had on him. He nearly blew the Rublev match, collapsing physically after two sets. For a while it looked like that might repeat today, though Fonseca wasn't quite able to make him pay (and then Mensik found his level again, especially in that last little stretch of the third set). I think he'd need to sprint to the finish line on Friday to realistically get the W, but Zverev's tedious consistent baseline tennis should make the match sufficiently long and physical that Zed ends up being able to thoroughly stamp his physical superiority on the encounter.

A match for the ages. The second most important Non Big 3 involved match since the 2022 US Open Sincaraz clash.

Mensik has saved tennis multiple times over in the last two years. He is the most clutch guy on tour outside Alcaraz / SinnerGOAT / Djok and it will serve him well in the SF.

I don't see Mensik playing at this level against Zverev. I think Zverev is primed to win his first slam, this will be a 3 or MAYBE 4 set win for the #1 TTW most hated player.

Zverev in 3.

And if he does win then I hope for his sake that he wins the final. It’s been his slam to lose since Sinner and Djoko were taken out, making it to the final and losing would be crushing.

Mensik played lights-out tennis today. He played the 3rd set tiebreaker extremely well after not converting all of those match point opportunities the game before. He’s going to be a tough out for Zverev.

I’m going to take Mensik in 5 here. This is going to be a special run for him. He’s good enough to bag the title.

I haven't seen much of Mensik to really comment on his prospects, but Sascha needs to stop hitting every rally ball like a garden party invitation. If he is not stepping up and imposing himself, opponents will have a window to take control. Jodar wasn't and Mensik may not be mentally ready to do it, but an inspired finalist or even Mensik can pull the rug below his feet if he keeps pushing.

Amidst the endless supply of unsportsmanlike grunts/fist pumps galore/Vamos screaming tennis players Mensik is a breath of fresh air. He's the true iceman not the Italian. I'll be happy for either guy but leaning Jakub TMRW.

Goldie Chainz is primed for battle!

Agree with others, head says Z, but heart says the resilience of Mensik (exploit that Z FH..).
Wonder what Z's head says as the pressure builds - lets see.

Hope for a great match.

Zed is used to pulling the rug himself..let's see..

Mensik better hydrate bc zverev will expose him if he starts cramping early.
Mensik dialed in would really make this a match. But he’s spent some time on court and was cramping up yesterday.

Zverev in 4.

We know Zverev's gonna choke, just a matter of whether its SF or Final.
Anyway, congrats Matteo Berrettini on your first Grand Slam Title.
Finally an Italian everybody can get behind (y)

It would be so cruel if Zverev doesn’t win this slam. You gotta wonder when is he gonna do it if not now. He has had so many heartbreaks.
I never wondered, because I never thought he was supposed to, because Nadal-Djokovic were always better than him on every wurface.
And Alcaraz/Sinner too, so no real window for him ever, plus he plays too passive in big matches, so hard to believe he'll ever win a slam.
Berrettini has the game and aggressive mindset to win a slam, whereas Zverev just has the game and you need more than game to win a slam.

Berrettini beating Zverev in the final would be funny.

I think if mensik didn’t go through so many grueling matches, and didn’t show signs of cramping through 2-3 sets yesterday, I’d have more confidence in him grinding out another 4/5 setter.

If Mensik is physically healthy and no injury, I don’t think he’ll be so tired he can’t beat Zverev. He has two days to recover and is a 20 year old pro athlete.
My big concern is him being injured and either pulling out or retiring mid match.

Yeah I mean he was playing his 4R match as if he was about to routine Rublev in 3 and started fading.

Zverev has really cruises through his matches. He’ll take full advantage if mensik shows signs of fatigue. I mean he was struggling with cramps yesterday but have to say he handles them better than sinner. Haha

I mean I agree Mensik could get tired or fatigued. But I think two days rest and the adrenaline of a slam SF should stand him in good steed to start things off. Tiredness, imo, would only be a factor if Zverev keeps him out there for four, five hours.
