Alcaraz has played a lot of tennis already since arriving in New York, he beat Fils in a practice match and played 2 mixed doubles matches, looks like he's ahead of schedule and can now take it easy :cool: me and Alcaraz are the coolest people on earth :cool:

WOW,. Grigor just made 2 golden sets didn't lose a point. he beat a tough player Virtenan ,, destoryed him actually


 
Shelton's got 0% chance, he has a panic-attack in every big match, and looking at the way his father behaves I can see why.
They both always look on edge and unstable...

He’ll make it’s customary run to the QFs and that’ll be that. Fritz and Tiafoe have a better chance of going further than him for me
 
If Alcaraz is back to his old self with no signs of rust he should win, if he isn't at his best I would go with Novak

I think Zverev is the big favourite. His draw is good and he’s now the best player in slams after Sincaraz. I don’t think Alcaraz will be quite ready to win this one so soon after long injury.

Novak may go deep with some luck but still difficult to see him go all the way to the title.

I like Carlos' chances to win the 2026 U.S. Open more with each passing day. Not just me thinking he will win it, the masses think it. He isn't the betting favorite for nothing. He does indeed have a very good chance to win it. We will see what happens, but he is the very clear favorite.

Yes, 5 or 6 individuals on this forum think he can't win it because they are Jannik or Novak fans. Their biased thoughts on Carlos' chances are totally irrelevant.
 
Fery working some magic dust tongiht,, destroying Kovacevic who is hot player. Fery will likely upset that italian player in the 1st round

No, as you can see I wrote Djokovic and Medvedev before Rublev :rolleyes: and I don't give Rublev any chance of reaching the SF, but he's ranked 24 and has more experience than most, so he deserves to be listed in this extremely weak field.

I've seen Shelton's father A LOT, and I've never seen a more uptight/nervous parent :unsure:
And Shelton, well we've all seen his reaction to big moments vs. elite players at slams, especially when he served for the 1st Set vs. Sinner at 2025 AO and then suddenly could not keep a ball in the court after playing flawless tennis for the first 10 games.

At US Open the best players have the 2 roofs to get their matches completed on-time, and Cincy is probably too hot (and with no roofs).
2025 Cincy Final only lasted 5 games due to heat stroke :sick: albeit because someone didn't want to get bagelled...

just don't see it with his father at all...former player himself and clearly understands what Ben's going through and doesn't freak out, and as I said often smiling or sitting calmly

Every time the I've seen Ben Shelton's father during a match, he's looked emotional and on-edge, and whether Ben replaces his father because of that (too much emotion) or simply because Ben plays his worst tennis in the biggest moments vs. elite players, I think its time for a change if Ben is serious about winning a slam title. There is something wrong mentally.

People claim Sascha's father is a horrible human being also. From all accounts he is a really nice guy. Just looks grumpy and mean in the box.
 
I’ve met Brian Shelton before. He’s a very nice guy. I lost to him years ago in a pro satellite tournament when he was recovering one year after an injury. He was a phenomenal player and a gentleman on court. Great athlete. I don’t think he is the problem for Ben Shelton. I don’t think he’ll be replaced, but maybe Shelton does choose to add another coach to supplement his team.

Could be. But Bull is pretty damn cool. Are you sure the two of you are quite on a par with him? It might be that Bull is the coolest, and the two of you are joint second.
 
Now I'm home for the weekend and I've really had a good look at the draw and I just can't pick a winner, It could literally be anyone. Zverev/Djokovic are the faves but both of them have been poor since Wimbledon and the transition to hard courts. I'm still firmly of the view Alcaraz isn't anywhere near fit enough to go deep, I still think he'll pull out or retire in his R1 match.

I think we're going to get a brand new slam winner, I really do. I don't think any player on tour right now is consistent enough or healthy enough for me to confidently say they'll make the Semis so it's going to be a bunch of rounds of last man standing.

While I dont see how the can win it, I just have this weird feeling it will be someone like Mensik or Lehecka or maybe even a Fritz.
