Osaka did well to keep the scoreline so tight as she really wasn't dialled in. That lack of rhythm may have been what held Muchova back from a more comprehensive scoreline as she was pretty solid for the most part. Osaka's range and first serve % were all over the place and every service game felt like an ordeal whereas Muchova was often efficient in getting through her service games. Nonetheless a QF here for Osaka when her previous best was 3R is a big step up and she will be one to look out for during the USO swing. What I am concerned about for Osaka is if she does go deep at a major again whether her nerves will upend her form.

Was so gutted for Naomi, thought she had a real chance of winning the whole thing. I really hope Paolini can win it now (would be the ultimate feel good winner) but reckon Kostyuk will be too much for her.

Elle fanning in the house.
I love that the bbc commentary don’t mention it when the screen shows the celebrities. Unless it’s someone tennis related or really obvious like Beckham.

Paolini's serve is lightweight and Kostyuk is wailing on her 2nd serve. I think Paolini can play better than this though. We'll see what happens in the 2nd set.

Noskova is so unflappable. Hit 3 stone winners to break Mertens at the best possible chance of asking and barely even acknowledged it. Then a beautiful calm reaction to winning.

Im a fan of all the Semifinalists, but wow either Noskova or Muchova winning the whole thing would be a lot of fun to see.

I’d love an all Czech final. Considering how dominant the Czech women have been in the 21st century, Kvitova, Krejcikova, Vondrousova, Pliskova, Muchova, Safarova, Vaidisova (there’s a throwback for yall), it’s crazy we’ve never had an all Czech slam final! We had it with the Italians between Pennetta and Vinci and Belgium between Clijsters and Henin. Obviously many American ones and also some Russian ones over the years.

Would be cool to see an all Czech final!

I'm happy about today's QF-results. :) As already pointed out, Paolini was weak today but it doesn't take away the fact that Kostyuk was pretty impressive. I saw Lindy as slight favorite against Mertens and this time she didn't threw her chances away.

Would love the all Czech final obviously but graceful flip would be so cool too (and all politics winner speech  )

9 straight years having a first time Wimbledon winner...that must be the record(by a big margin) at any slam, any gender. Heck I wonder if that's even happened in dubs. Crazy considering Martina won 9, Steffi won 7, Serena won 7, Venus 5 - was so common to see repeat winners for a long time. From 1977 to 2016 there were a total of 8 one time Wimbledon winners...

Gauff leads their h2h 6-1, but Muchova won their last match in Stuttgart.
This one will be a coin toss.
Hoping for a Muchova win.

Kostyuk has better movement than Noskova and it could be a factor in the match.
Kosty leads their h2h 1-0, winning in Madrid this year.
I'm hoping for a Kostyuk win.

Wow what a blessing!
For any Kontaveit fans here.
She's playing doubles right now with Bouchard!
I never thought I'd see her play again.
(I hope she makes a comeback.)
She's looking/playing great as ever. :)

Ladies Invitation Doubles.
And Kontaveit/Bouchard win in straights.

I have to say the SF line up leaves me cold but I’m sure I’ll get some enjoyment out of it.
Fair. Its the opposite for me. Only way I'd be happier is if Queen IGA was subbed in for Kostyuk, but honestly Im still happy with Kostyuk there. Wouldnt mind Osaka being there either, that's probably the only other scenario I would have wanted.

Who do you think will make the final from here?

all the ladies semifinalists are first time Wimbledon semifinalists. has that happened at any major before?
Immediately off the top of my head I thought of the 2021 French Open.

Krejcikova (unseeded)
#17 Sakkari
#31 Pavlyuchenkova
Zidansek (unseeded)

Not only were none of those players former French Open SFists, not one of them had even made a slam SF before at any of them…

Yes it’s a good chance for me to appreciate these players. I will say I know Gauff well due to her playing several big matches. I like her grit but her game does nothing for me. recently I got to know Kostyuk who I could see myself supporting to win it all. She has some flair and hits a bit harder than the others I think. I’ve only watched Noskova a couple of times. Muchova I’ve seen a few times but I find her a bit wet. I can see she has a pretty game, though.
I’m going to go with Gauff vs Kostyuk final.
Which means Muchova vs Noskova!

That bottom half SF is seriously rough. One of the most obnoxiously unpleasant people on tour against an Andrew Tate fan. Top half winner better win the freakin' title. It's almost enough to make you root for Coco against one of your fave players because she is probably the safer bet.

Oh I don’t know about those stories. I shall google.

has it been proven Noskova likes Andre Tate?
That is very surprising since she do not have tie to US at all.

@DarthJodar Noskova plays a big babe tennis. It's serve ace serve winner serve UE with her on grass.

I really miss Serena - Venus final hitting quality though.

I mean it all came out years ago, didn't it? If it was fake/untrue, she would have surely said something by this point.

Thanks for the tip. Kontaveit fan here. She's still got game. Her and Genie is some pretty girl tennis. It's on the ESPN app ON DEMAND if somebody wants to watch.

Despite all my qualms with her game and her approach, I would like to see Coco win Wimbledon. What can I say, I do want to see her succeed as excruciating as it may be at times.

High ball to the forehand draws the BREAK! Of course, this tournament has proven that winning the first set against Coco means nothing, even if she somehow holds on to close this out.

I mean this is the first set Coco experience.

Gives up a break and now playing a super tame service game with some cheap errors, gives up the double break without even making Karo work. Awful forehands. Like not even close. Just awful start.

Coco's stats from the first set of each of her last two matches against Bencic and Pegula.

2 aces
8 double faults
15 winners
41 unforced errors

and then the third sets of each of those matches

5 aces
2 double faults
26 winners
21 unforced errors
