I'd like to see Paire take this, but I don't know how good his HC game is. Yet to see him play on the surface.

Can't see past Querrey for his third title there, would be a confidence boost as well for him, Malisse is biggest threat to stop him. Great opportunity for Blake to get into the top 100 again if he can put together a couple of wins and if he can get past Matosevic it wouldn't be out of the question for him to make the final as no one's really in great hard court form in that half.

I would to see Sam Querrey take this one. He plays here at our River Oaks Clay Court Championships here in Houston and I've had the pleasure of seeing him play many times. James Blake played here this year and got killed in the first round so I think his time is just about up to win even small tournaments.

after beating berdych at wimby hes done for the rest of the year
The guy doesn't want to deal with defending his title. Never entered as defending champion in any of his 2 titles wins.

He will come to Bangkok and smoke the field....then go back to being typical gulbis.

I thought he was going for the Gold in London.:???:

I'm thinking Baker or Querrey will take this one, though, there are a few sleepers who could have an awesome week and win this...draw's weak even for a 250...

I really don't like that place, and everything they stand for, but I did get to meet Sam Querrey there. Got a picture with him and got both his and John Isner's autograph.

Where the hell is Gulbis? He won this sucker last year. He's going to lose a TON of points.
He's playing the red dirt in Europe for some unfathomable reason. Kitzbuhel actually has a much better draw.

I thought I'd clicked on last year's LA qualifying draw at first. Shocking.

Steve Johnson could go far in this hometown tournament. If sam querry doesn't win this tournament, it will be embarrasing.

Wasn't the top seed at Serbia open number 47 too? And if I remember, Paire did really well there.

Anyway, my predictions for quarters.

Paire vs Matosevic
Mahut vs Andreev
Baker vs Sock
Mallisse vs Queerey

Semis:
Paire vs Mahut
Baker vs Queerey

Finals: Mahut vs Queerey

Jack Sock to take this title and could send some serious scare to rest of the players for the US open title. He is most likely next Roddick.

"Smoke the field" is exactly what he's going to do in Thailand. As far as his tennis goes, it will probably be limited to two or three mellow sets.

Who is everybody liking in the upcoming Sock v Cipolla match? I think most are picking Sock to advance but why not Cipolla?

Brian Baker lost 1st set in a tiebreak after holding a 4-1 lead. Sadly, he seems to have lost his mojo. Hasn't done well since Wimbledon.

Yep Baker seems to be in a bit of a funk. What the hell happened to Sock today? He had been playing great tennis but got steamrolled out there today.

Baker lost in first round again. He doesn't have the same composure he had when he just returned to the tour anymore.

I was there tonight and he was just out of control mentally. Seemed to not be able to hold it together at all, after every point shaking his head and acting all exasperated.

Sock just blew a golden chance of gaining ranking points byt crashing out 6-3, 6-1. Guess he still has some growing up to do on the tour grind, hope he enjoys the WC this year.

blake is pathetic, can he please just retire already. so far not a good showing from americans. sock was blown off the court and so was johnson. im hoping russel will be able to keep up his good form and put in another run to the quarters . he beat my boy jesse handily who has been on fire recently.

Look for Berankis to make some noise here. He is hot and playing well right now. He is top 20 talent. but his brain is getting in his way.

He just may win this tournament. This tournament have become a glorified challenger event. Lefty has a great advantage here
he lost in three sets to lorenzi yesterday. if querrey doesn't win this thing then they might as well give the 250 points to someone ranked 500th.

Rycka will have to get past andreev first. if he does that, i dont see why he cant make the finals. paire and mahut are no real threats on hard courts.

on Tennis channel Live now. Michael Russel really cashing in on Challenger type field. #1 seed Paire about to go down, has stomach pull, good break for Russel.

surprised it's being aired on TC. I guess espn wanted nothing to do with this field.
Round of 16 in a 250 or even 500 event NEVER airs on ESPN. ESPN will air both semifinals and the final. This was the case last year as well. Historically, the field is never great here especially with DC being a 500 event the following week.

Did anyone notice that there is a 500 event (Washington) during the olympics?

This could have a huge impact on the rankings!

For example, if Querrey wins the Farmers Classic then wins Washington, he's top 25 in the world (currently 57th)! :)

Big chance for non Olympians here!
