It is obvious Federer has the best forehand in history probably, so having a forehand poll with him on who has the best forehand today is not fair. So who has the second best forehand in mens tennis today.

Nadal here too. There are some nice forehands like Verdasco, Gonzalez, etc. but just not consistent enough.

J-Block, it is a lot better than Rafa's. Rafa's is good on clay, but on other surfaces it's not as effective (besides his crazy angles).

Blake on the other hand hits his forehand very flat and aggressive. If you watched the matches that they have played against each other, Blake's was able to push Nadal around by hitting his forehand. I'd say that Blake's forehand has as much pace as Roger's, it's just that he misses a lot given his go for broke mentality.

Andreev ? hell maybe its only on clay but he is fking monster combination of power/spin

Yes helloworld we know that Nadal according to you has the best volley, the best return, the best forehand, the best backhand. Heck he probably has the best serve too. He cant use all these things to get past the quarters of a hard court slam but who cares. Nadal rules all.

Ok, I've noticed there are so many Nadal haters here. I'm not totally a big fan of Nadal, but whenever I post something about Nadal having a good forehand or volley, some anti Nadal will just step all over my post. Once again, I confirmed my opinion. Nadal has a comparable forehand to Federer, maybe even better. And his return of serve on clay is a lot better than Federer, although on grass and hard court, his return of serve is average.

those were the exact 2 names that came to my mind! but when they're on, their forehands are sometimes better than BigFed's. but agreed, they're way too inconsistent

The problem with Blake, Gonzo, and Verdasco's forehands is that while they're amazing shots when they go in, they sure look ugly hitting that back fence on the fly. Nadal, with that arc and heavy spin, is like no other in terms of both consistency and effectiveness.

I agree. The amazing thing about Nadal's groundstrokes, forehand included obviously, is how hard he swings and yet how consistent he is. He makes so few unforced errors. IMO, that's why he has the 2nd best forehand. Blake's is big but not very good defensively or versitile because it's not nearly as effective on grass or clay.

That is why the Nadal haters hate you.

Anyway, of the current pros, I'd have to go with Andreev. That forehand is an absolute monster! Moya has a very good forehand too, if only he could back it up with a decent backhand.

ermmm i'd say nadal because of his consistency and his amazing angles but i like blakes forehand ...... the amount of power he puts into them is unbelievable and every now and again tursunov well :-o every1 knows about him.

i love the way roddick isnt in this poll....no disrespect but i think his forehand is better than youzhnys lol but roddicks forehand compared to the likes of nadal djokovic....well its really ****. his forehand i suppose to be his 2nd weapon from his serve.

I miss Roddick's old forehand. It seemed to be much better than it is now.

I voted for Gonzo cause I love to see him unleash it. It was unfortunate that against Tipsaravic at Wimbledon he didn't let it rip enough but when he did it was awesome to watch.

Nope, I think that Gonzo's forehand is his major weapon. It has plenty of pace and topspin, while being pretty consistent. His backhand? It stinks lol. :P

I think many people under estimate nadal's backhand, but in anycase, his forehand is good i think its awesome

But djokovic forehand rules

Djokovic, Nadal, and Blake all have good forehands. But I would go with Djokovic with the second best, espcially on hadcourts (Nadal best on clay). Much more variety and consistancy than Blake's (Blake does have one of the most powerful in the game today, as well).

Agree with everything you said.

Federer has a forehand that is effective on every surface, thats why his forehand is the best in tennis. Nadal's forehand works on grass and clay but definitely not on hardcourt... its not deep enough...

This also is the way how i am feeling about this. :)

I voted blake--nadal's forehand crumbles too easily on faster surfaces, as he takes such a big cut at the ball.

I think Nadal has the second best forehand, first best on clay but I voted Andreev already because of the match against Roddick and it's just insulting that Blake has more votes than him.

I think for once the T.V. commentators called this one right. The top three forehands are held by the top three players--in that order. So, Nadal has the second best, with Djokovic coming in a close third. All the rest of those guys have that caveat: when they are "on". I like Blake, but he and Gonzo, and pretty much everyone else is not "on" enough for their forehands to be considered the best. Anybody can have a great day and have all their shots go in, but if you can't do it consistently (none of those guys have made really deep runs in majors, other than Gonzo who has done squat since) it means very little.
