3/8 and 1/2 grip rackets

I have a head YOUTEK speed 16x19 thats a 3/8th grip with a prince quickzorb overgrip. Tennis season is starting in my HS and I'm looking for a second racket in case I snap in the middle of a match. I want to buy the same racket on tennis warehouse but the only available grip is 1/2 and 5/8. Does anyone own this racket and felt any difference between these two sizes? 3/8 and 1/2? Also, yes, I did ask tennis warehouse when they were going to restock but no reply.

Just put 2 overgrips on the 4 3/8's so it would stack up to a 4 1/2 with an overgrip.

So if I were to add another of the same overgrip i would have the same feeling of 1/2?
Take the 4 3/8 racquet to a competent tennis shop that does racquet customizing and ask them to install a heat shrink sleeve. The heat shrink method would be far superior to using two overgrips; two overgrips is going to result in a very mushy feel that reduces tactile feedback.
The heat shrink sleeve addressed the handle sizing but won't address the issue of matching racquet balance and weight. My guess is that the 4 3/8 racquet with heat shrink will now be slightly more head light in balance and slightly heavier than the new 4 1/2 you bought. You can get the racquet customizer to add silicone into the handle of the 4 3/8 via buttcap to get the balance and weight more in line with the new 4 1/2.
The two racquets won't be "perfectly" matched but it'll be as good as you can get it from my experience.
Best of luck.

Why not change the pallets? It's easy to do and cheap and way better than heat shrink sleeve.

Or (sorry TW) buy somewhere else?

Exactly. Don't go looking for cheesy compromise, go buy some pallets and the right-sized buttcap, and there you go. No altering balance and weight (like with heatshrink), no wobbly feeling with a half dozen overgrips...

i had my grips shaved by ****, a local tennis customization shop for $60 each.

not sure how much it would have caused to change the pallet.

Yes you will feel the difference!

The Speed has been replaced with a new IG Speed, so they won't be restocking.

Above posters have given you the options. If you want exactly the same grip, you can buy the racquet from TW and then also look for a TK82 4-3/8 grip on the board and replace it yourself. It's not always easy to find, and it takes some skill, as this as this will be your 1st time. There are posts on how to do this.

Personally, I like identical grips on racquets.
