3 kills with 1 swing re. odd string strategy which worked for me but, any1 else:?)))...........

3 kills with 1 swing, no stone throwing no birds killed no animal cruelty, kill problems only:love::love::love:.................................

it's been working for me perfectly for yrs since got my own stringer, re. 'doggy patch up' ie only replacing 1, 2 or 3 broken or nearby breaking 1s.

now i convinced a 20yo boy to use my 'doggy patch up' n for yrs i've being restringing for him in normal way ie once a string's broken, cut then redo brand new string bed.

pro:

1. maintain <40bl tension w/o new bed tension fluctuation so no need of adjustment of swing path/rh angle. it also forces him to control a lot more n apply as much topspin as possible, otherwise he'll find bullet holes on the fence of the other end:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:.........

2. he's been away from club comp for last 4 yrs due to hsc + boredom of tennis + online game. now in uni n just started getting back to comp again. a bloody good legitimate excuse to blame the strings when lost the matches n most of young ego-ers were ready to believe dat..........lololololol. while winning the match his opponents were extremely annoyed n went crazy:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D......................

3. save my tons of time as hitting/restring ratio per min is huge, due to only like taking 5 min doing 'doggy patch up', from my own yrs experience:love::love::love::love::love::love::love::love::love:..........................

con:
looks ugly, but gr8 fun intimidating opponents..................some super-ego-ers simply stopped the match once fell behind a game or 2, super-duper fun boyohboy. well it's not actually a con.............can't think of anything else, lololololol manohman:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D...........................

just wondering if any1 out there doing the 'doggy style' as so far i've never met any1 playing tennis w/ similar 'doggy style' string bed except the 20 yo boy i mentioned above...........lololololol manohman:-D:-D.......................

Ah, what is old is new again. Back in the 70s, we simply called it a patch string. It was a technique used mostly for players who used gut in their wood frames. When they’d break a string they’d bring it into the shop and we’d replace the area of broken string with a new piece of gut (we even kept scrap pieces of gut in a Victor Imperial tin box for this purpose). I think we charged a dollar per patch job (I think a full bed of gut was around 22 bucks then).

But, even then, no one thought it preserved a good string job—it was simple frugality. I also think neither frames nor players were as “tension sensitive” as they seem to be today. No matter what, the patch will not preserve the consistency of the original string job (way too many variables in play). I think, in today’s game, folks tend to be more tension sensitive and the ease/cost of getting a racquet strung are more efficient and economical than ever—so you just don’t see it much.

I don’t recommend it but largely because I like consistency in the string bed and that’s lost immediately upon the break. I also don’t find it that time efficient (I can install a new set in less than 20 minutes) and I don’t want to expand grommets for new tie off holes . . .and I’ll take the risk on the loss of the “intimidation factor” . . But to each their own.

from my own experience of last 4 yrs hitting 600>>1200 shots daily, the tension of the rest of bed seemed unchanged except the broken 1 n the 2 strings next to it by checking the 'bite' marks on the mains. maybe due to my new bed tension 48lb which's lower than a lot of ppl's like 60lb. but still even the 60lb 1s won't be 60lb w/in a few days due to the constant stretching resulted in gradual tension drop, even not playing at all w/ it. the tension'll drop badly w/in couple of hrs if hitting very/pro-ly hard n dat's the reason some pros change couple of rkts w/in a match in order to maintain consistency. we rec-ers normally only restring our rkts when the strings are broken n a guy told me only did restring twice a yr so his string tension must be dropped a lot but will stay at certain stable level which must shown by the 'bite' marks on the mains. that's exactly i did with my beds so i don't have to alter my swing path n rh/ball impact angle to deal w/ the new tension which's set at 48lb, most likely ~35lb all the time. actually i might simply set 35lb if redo the whole brand new bed next time which i haven't done my own rkts for yrs:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D....................

Head used to make a racket where each string was held by a barrel wedged in on both ends of every string. No knots, when a string broke just replace the broken string and play. Sounds good? Not many players thought so or that system would still be around.

^^^ah yes, the Head String-Lock Edge. At least you did not have to worry about finding a suitable tie-off hole. As I recall, similar issues (lack of consistency in tension) plus once one string broke, several others were about to go. For the non-self stringer, that’s too many trips to the tennis shop.

I used to live across from the courts and a fried brought one over to get a string replaced. He went back to courts and 15 minutes he was back. After I replaced the 4th string it one day he put the racket in his bag and never played with it again. Not a good method for string breakers.

the string bed technology hasn't been changed at all for >100 yrs but rkts/strings/stringers have evolved many generations..........a bit odd though.

i still got 5 or 6 ~$100 each worth (or even less:)) babo pd, used ofc as otherwise new 1s would b >$200 each, which could easily cost >10x of dat for restringing w/in couple of yrs as i have to fix up my dosage ~1200 hits daily n strings broke every 2 or 3 weeks. so to avoid the restringing cost i have to have my own machine n value the hitting/restring hr/min time ratio...........lololololol manohman:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D...........................
